  • Great all around off-road boot
Size: 9.5 Color: Olive
They are great off-roaders and an overall comfortable hiking, and daily use boots. They are a bit too warm for warm weather hiking, but they seem like they would be amazing for colder weather and just a good all-around wide comfortable feel. I generally don't go for the wide zero drop shoes but these ones are just nice. Not overly spacious but give a good amount of room and nothing inside the shoe is annoying. The standout features for me are the rubber is sticky, lugs are deep, good traction, and the cushioning is great. Not too much. Overall quality for the price is awesome. ... show more

  • Good boot, reasonable price.
Size: 12 Color: Coyote
Appears to be a good hiking boot. Inexpensive, water-resistant lining has held up through six months of twice-daily pupwalks through the woods, off-road/trail, one to three miles a day. Comfortable for wide feet. Well-cushioned. You will need to treat with a silicone spray or equivalent to approach "waterproof status, and the insoles need replacing if you have high arches. No surprises there, and no matter how much you pay for hiking boots, high arch support requires special insoles and the outside will need waterproofing. At this price point, if they hold up for a year or more, they are a worthwhile purchase. UPDATE - After over a year of relatively hard use as yard chore boots and averaging 3-4 miles a day over uneven, unimproved terrain, I can say these boots are holding up remarkably well. No manufacturing or durability issues. If you are over 200 lbs., have high arches, need a very wide toe box, and do not care about country of origin, these boots are an excellent choice right out of the box. The only reasonably priced American-made option is Keen, and then you should get the Keen M50 inserts to accommodate high arches and gain some cushioning, since the standard Keen footbed absolutely sucks. The Keen Targhee 4 runs ~$180 and the M50 inserts are ~$50. The Chinese-made Nortiv8 boots are ~$60. Merrell wide boots (I have owned literally dozens of Merrels over the years) fit just as well as both the Keen and Nortiv8s, are now made only in China or Thailand, and still cost two to four times as much as these Nortiv8s. I run Keen Targhee 4s as my daily, all-around "out and about" footwear. With the M50 footbed, they are flawless for me and are American made. The Nortiv8 however, is my new disposable, "kick-around the garage and yard" boot. Caveat; I treat every boot I purchase with a waterproofing technique and replace the laces with bungee paracord and barrel connectors for a quick-lace setup, so I cannot comment on the Nortiv8 out-of-the-box waterproofing nor lace performance... Beyond that, if you do not care about country of origin and are on a budget, these boots are a smart, very worthy choice. ... show more

  • Great materials, quality, support for the price
Size: 8.5 Color: Olive
I am new to wide toe box non-minimalist shoes. I wore these around the house for DAYS – not because I was on the fence, but because they were so comfortable and I was getting used to the new shape. The midsole is fairly rigid and supportive, but it is shaped in a way that almost propels you forward. The upper is also pretty supportive. Insoles were easy to replace, and my SOLE wide and PowerStep wide both fit. I ended up going with the SOLEs for these and ended up wearing them to the horse stable for everything BUT riding and they've made a huge difference in how my feet and legs feel when I'm done. They are handling rain, a bit of mud (stuff brush does a good quick clean), lots of leans, bends, turns, etc. as I work on various things on concrete, gravel, and sand. The maximalist design of the foam midsole does make them feel and look a little clunky, and I have a tendency to catch the heels on shallow stairs. My only real niggle is that I'm not sure I'd wear them for hiking with a lot of uphill, as they feel a bit stiff in front of the ankle. However, this could be affected by the fact that I found Topo Trailventures to be the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I haven't fussed with the lacing much, either. Green color is unique and different without being distracting. Especially for the price, I am thrilled with them. ... show more

  • Fun so far, the question is will the plastic eye laces hold up?
Size: 11 Color: Navy
Very comfortable shoes for mild level surfaces. Good traction on wet trails. Only put on less that 75 miles and everything is holding up. I want to see how the plastic top two eye laces hold up. For the money not a bad product even though they are made in China.

  • Amazing boot for people with wide feet
Size: 10.5 Color: Olive
Used these boots on a short 5 mile hike recently and I was super impressed with just how comfortable and roomy they were (almost have a plushly feel to it). They're amazing for people with wide feet, especially because they have a wide toe box. I usually order a size 11 or 11.5 for most shoes, but I opted for a size 10.5 based on the sizing chart. I think a size 10 would have been perfect, but I do have some hiking/thick socks that help fill in the gaps. I like the grip, never felt like I was going to slip or anything like that. The terrain was pretty wet in some places with a whole lot of mud and the boot just trucked right on through with ease. Does fantastic against rocks and extremely steep inclines, were talking maybe 40-60 degree inclines. Can't comment on durability quite yet, but they're pretty well constructed. Easy to clean too. Overall, I'd give them a 5 star rating. They look great in person and they're worth the money especially at such a low price point. If you can get them on sale-- do it! ... show more

  • Glad they made a wide toe box boot, hope for enhancements
Size: 13 Color: Coyote
Well made overall, looks good. The shape of the sole is conducive for smooth transition on the ground (almost a heel toe rocker shoe). Wish list: wider toe box and mid foot, tighter heel area (my heels slid around), curve the soles heel and bottom a little more and the shoe string should be longer. On smooth wet asphalt these boots were slippery. Durability, the design of the tread being small contact areas will likely wear faster than typical. ... show more

  • My Freaky Fat Feet Love These Boots!
Size: 8.5 Color: Black
This is the most embarrassing review I'll ever write because it involves discussion of my freakish Frankenstein feet. See, I'm a 5' tall, 105 lb. woman who takes a *ridiculously* large women's 10EE shoe size. And my dogs are also very WIDE, complete with a very aggravating bunion. So after trying and failing to stuff these monster feet into my usual Keens, I realized that I had to invest in wider footwear to accomodate my old lady foot spread. And that search led me to a women's wide pair of Nortiv 8s, which fit very nicely but could be more generous in the width of forefoot space. I happened to see these men's "wide toe box" shoes and decided to give them a go. I got them in men's size 8.5, which translates to a women's 10. I can't say enough good things about these boots! My bunion is *very* happy in these, as are all my toes with their new ample wiggle room. These were incredibly comfortable straight out of the box; no break-in period required. They arrived during several days of rain. I did take the precaution of coating them with Scotchguard waterproofing spray before wearing them because of some reviews claiming the boots weren't 100% waterproof. I've now hiked in them in rain and snow both, and my feet have stayed 100% dry. I'm not understanding the reviews complaining about the thickness of the sole of these boots. I noticed nothing extra thick or heavy or awkward about them at all; they feel normal to me. I have MS and get drop foot and toe-dragging so I avoid bulky/clumsy boots like the plague; these don't feel that way at all; they're not trip hazards. Sizing-wise I'd say they run true to size with a tendency to run to the smaller side of the scale. So when I get another pair of these I might go up a half-size just to better accommodate thick winter wool socks. But I'm very happy with these, which I'm wearing right now. They take me on three-mile hikes every morning and then I wear them to my standing up job for the rest of the day and my feet are *very* happy with no complaints whatsoever. I'm thrilled with them! ... show more

  • Pleasant Surprise
Size: 14 Color: Olive
I've switched to these as my hiking boots and they are great! I was doubtful when I placed my order because the images of the sole don't look like they'd provide much traction but these boots are awesome. I'll probably be ordering a second pair in a different color because the price point is so good too. Extremely comfortable. ... show more
