I have a pair of very lightweight joggers from this brand and live in them, so decided to try these running shorts. I was surprised when they came that rather than being a light running weight short they were thicker like a workout short. That said, I like them a lot and they fit great. The quality is good, and they are stretchy, just loose enough and comfortable. Even the back pocket is well thought through as the zipper sits up higher so when you are sitting on a weight bench or machine it is not digging into you. The side pockets also zip, which I like. There is a drawstring for the waist. The shorts are made of 88% polyester and 12% elastine, and you care for them by washing in cold/warm water and tumble drying low or hanging them to dry. Overall these are a great pair of shorts, they just aren’t running shorts, in my opinion.

Overall, these are nice workout shorts. The cloth these shorts are made from feels like a premium material. It's stretchy and a little thicker than most of the running shorts I have without being too thick. I would classify them as general workout shorts or gym shorts as opposed to running shorts due to the cut and the thickness. You can certainly run in them, but they are a bit longer than running shorts and aren't the ultra-thin material you would want for summer runs. The pockets have zippers which is something I really like in any workout shorts. The cut of these shorts is a little baggier than I like, especially in the back of the legs. They are definitely a little boxier as opposed to being a slimmer or athletic cut. It's not bad, but a more tailored fit would be nice. Overall, if this is the cut of shorts you are looking for and you don't need ultra-thin shorts for summer runs, these are a good option.

My husband Jim lives in shorts for most days year round here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm always on the lookout for versatile, comfortable, well made shorts for everyday wear. Saw this Northyard short and thought I would give it a try. Fabulous and comfortable shorts! Everything about them exceeded our expectations. Cut with room to move, very comfortable fabric. Side pockets are zippered so you won't lose your pocket items. Secure and comfortable drawstring closure at the waist. A perfect length for everyday wear. Durable seaming throughout. Also a great value. Washes beautifully in a cold water wash. I highly recommend this product.

These shirts are stretch and stay cool. The pockets all have zippers, which is a plus. True to size, which is hard to find on Amazon. No lining, but that's okay, they're not swim shorts. Would get in other colors.

These are comfy and true to fit, but the material is too heavy to be described as running shorts. I'd equate them more as basketball shorts. The running shorts I'm used to are much lighter. I think branding as a workout short would be the best. That said, they are put together really well. The quality is good and though they are not "exquisite", the zippers are good and not the cheapos. I wouldn't mind the pocket being a little bigger as well.

I was really impressed with these shorts. The fabric is soft and they feel good on. I ordered my normal size and they fit perfectly so I would say they are true to size. What I really like about these are the pockets. There are 2 deep size pockets and one back pocket, all with zippers. I always fear losing my phone or keys with athletic shorts and these solve for that. They have a comfortable elastic waistband as well as a drawstring for a good fit. They also have a reflective stripe on both sides which is a nice feature. Overall, I find the quality is good and they will hold up well.
