  • Apple Master Apple Peeler, Corer, and Slicer
Color: 865R Red
This is the second one of these I have bought. The first impressed me so much I gave it to my daughter. It was a lot of fun showing my grandkids how to use it and watching them have fun. In fact, my grandson is just three years old and used it without needing much guidance. It is that easy. This device is uber-cool. I does exactly what it is supposed to do and it requires no electricity. It makes short work of peeling, slicing, and coring apples, pears, or any other similar friut. I have a small orchard and dry apples and pears each summer and this shortened the process by literally hours. It would be similarly useful for making pies or treating the kids to a quick and healthful snack. The device is also very easy to clean. I was initially sceptical if the suction mount would work, but it does so flawlessly. the device is versatile in that it wll just peel friut, core and slice friut, or it will do all three. And, switching between the modes takes about three seconds, literally. I woud recommend this to anyone who uses friut in quantities of two or more at a time. ... show more

  • Great timesaver - well worth the money!
Color: 865 Grey
I've had to peel and core bushels of apples and Quince for dehydrating. This peeler made that process go so much faster, and easier. My slices were consistent thickness so drying was more uniform and actually took less time overall. The peeler is sturdy, comes in nice color options, seems to be made of quality materials, and eas easy to clean. The preset blade spacing was appropriate and after trying a few adjustments, I ended up putting it back to it's original placement and was content with it. Downside: Couldn't use the suction cup for stability. It just didn't seem to want to stick well to any of my surfaces. (My work areas aren't perfectly smooth) I think instead of having 1 big suction area, if it had several smaller suction areas throughtout the entire base that it would have worked better on my tile surfaces. Upside: I anticipated this suction challenge from previous peelers I've owned, which is why I purposely got this one that came with a clamp. I used the clamp to hold it in place and wasn't concerned about the suction cup performance. The clamp is the best way to go! However, it would be more helpful if the clamp had a little more depth to it. In order to use the clamp it had to be at the very edge of my table. If it had more depth I could have set the peeler more away from the edge and it would have been easier to place a catch plate under the end to catch the peels. Downside: It is a little difficult to get some of the fruit on. Definitely doesn't do a very uniform job on extremely large fruit or fruit that is soft and /or slightly deformed. It left skin on in some places, especially near each end or where it was deformed. But that wasn't really a major issue; I just took the parking knife and did the trimming before I made the final slice to cut thru the spiral. The perfectly uniform thickness and speed made that issue small peanuts. While I couldn't get the skin thickness as thin as I do when I use a paring knife, and I hate wasting anything, we have chickens, ducks, and goats so it was just an extra treat for them. And if I didn't have the critters, the peeling and cores would have go into making apple scrap vinegar. So either way it wasn't a big issue for me. Upside: Once again the speed of peeling and uniformity of the slices made the minor inconveniences inconsequential. I would definitely recommend this particular peeler because if it's sturdy construction, optional clap attachment, and ease of use!! Great peeler and you won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • dehydrating apples? you need this!
Color: 865R Red
this works so nicely to core & spiral slice the large quantity of apples i had for drying this year & i am so glad i decided to get this machine! i didn't used the peeler part since i wanted my dried apples with the skin. i have a very slightly textured countertop in the kitchen & didn't think the suction cup would work very well so i intentionally bought the model with the clamp in case i needed it. to my surprise that suction device was rock solid on my counter & didn't budge once, what an excellent feature. apple season is over & i won't get to use the machine again until next fall, that is unless i decide to dry some onions or make scalloped potatoes which i might just give it a try! ... show more

  • Piece of garbage
Color: 865R Red
Ordered this last year, my first year EVER having apple trees and wasn't sure if it would work with suction or clamp...seemed like a good idea to have both options. Well, I used it last year flawlessly, despite the fact that they don't explain how all the little 'adjustments' work on the thing. I did notice the crank handle slipping some, but it never entered my mind that it would totally break. Now, I have 2 five-gallon buckets of apples to make a variety of fresh apple products. I got through about 12 apples when the handle that is attached to the crank shaft started to spin freely. I first thought perhaps a screw came out, but that is not the case. No screw. It's detached itself from the shaft, making using this impossible to peel my apples. Yes, perhaps I can 'super glue' it but since I'm in the middle of making apple butter and drying apple slices, that won't do. So basically, I would say this is a piece of crap, since I've probably used it a total of 4 hours since I bought it. I saw a similar one at the 'Evil Empire' (aka Walmart) and hope to buy one there, then switch this defective one out and get my money back. I don't have time to order another one!! (I do this all the time at the Evil Empire since they built a store right next to my house, didn't put adequate drainage in initially and our little development flooded as a result. Got a FEMA grant and had to take out a $20k SBA loan to fix the flood damage. We are NOT in a flood zone...it was Walmart! They fixed this about 2 months after we got flooded. I'm entitled to take advantage of them whenever I can... $20k loan... yeah, guys... I WILL piece by piece, get some of my money back!) VERY POORLY MADE AND ZERO INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TWEEK THE SETTINGS!! ... show more
