Great flip-phone! The Nokia 2780 is consistently reviewed as one of the best flip-phones on the market. The design is excellent, the construction, fit & finish are impressive, and it has several smart-phone type features that should please many. The appearance and feel of this phone is rock solid. The case comes in either red or blue and is quite rugged with a heavy-duty hinge. The top screen displays the time and caller info and is large enough and easy to read. When opened, the main color screen is bright, clear and reads easily. The keyboard is intuitive and has larger keys with a great tactile response. The operating software (KaiOS) works as expected and arrives with an array of mostly useful apps preloaded (minimal bloatware). The phone is super easy to flip open and close. The case back removes simply to expose the sim card slot, a micro SD card slot for storing music, etc., and surprisingly a removeable and long-lasting lithium battery. The phone has a standard 3.5mm headphone input and a state-of-the-art mini USB-C charge port & charger. My impressions of the Nokia 2780 are all positive. I occasionally use it to talk on the phone to others -- but mostly as an emergency phone if needed on my motorcycle, bicycle and boat. On Amazon, I purchased a terrific prepaid 1-year unlimited talk & text plan for just $75 with Jethro Mobile. Great service through the T-Mobile network and an absolute bargain. For those of us who prefer to live in a text-free world, this is literally the perfect phone. Folks who frequently text and gamers will find the keyboard useable, but quite cumbersome compared to an Android or iPhone touch screen. However, for the growing number of people who are increasingly unplugging from the grid, or for older people and the very young with simpler communication needs, the Nokia 2780 is a genuine winner.     • Warrenty is a Joke

I went on-line to activate the warranty on this 6-month-old Nokia 2780 Flip phone. It quit receiving and transmitting voice. Verizon checked and verified that it was not functioning on calls. Amazon does not service Nokia warranties. Checking for warranty service in the Denver area yielded no results. Verizon does not service phones that it did not sell. Nokia's on-line web service only offers generic instructions for problems that are listed, among which non-functioning voice communication is not listed. They have a popup offering a "chat" with "HMD". It is not obvious that "HMD" is the actual manufacturer, so I was reluctant to contact a "4th" party about the problem. Finally, contact with "HMD" yielded instructions for getting service on the phone with proof of purchase and "IEMI" code on the phone. After several days trying to get the phone "IEMI" correct, I finally received a shipping label with packaging instructions and repair order number. Shipped on Jan 25, 2024. No verification from "HMD" as of Feb 1 that the phone arrived or repair was underway, so I messaged them and received a reply on Feb 2 that the repair was canceled because a wrong "IMEDI" code was provided. This will be a never-ending saga, etc. Don't buy any device that is not under warranty service from the seller! ... show more

I bought this phone because I was looking to free myself from always needing to carry a smartphone. This has accomplished that task wonderfully. I've used flip phones in the past and this is the nicest one I've had. Having USB-C is really nice and KaiOS provides a lot of utility features that make it much more practical. I particularly enjoyed having Google Maps, an MP3 player, and functioning threaded Group MMS messages. (I did experience a slight issue setting up the APN settings for my carrier -- entering it manually by T9 was a pain). Being able to log into my Google account meant I could sync my contacts, which was very useful. KaiOS still has a long way to go, though. The Calendar app for example is quite broken. Recurring events don't work and display on the wrong days. Events that ended long ago still display. Only the primary Google calendar displays, but the secondary calendars still push notifications, even when syncing is disabled??? I ended up toggling off the Calendar app and just use the website. The app store is limited (although I did download a QR code reader and a couple other nice utilities). Any app that is not a "stock app" - and this includes some pre-installed bloatware, will include full-screen ads. You can tell they're targeted towards older, more gullible individuals and I find them quite obnoxious. The camera and display are good enough for what they are meant for, but do not expect stellar quality like an expensive smartphone. I was happy with the build quality and design. The battery lasted plenty long for my needs. The keyboard is nice (and I appreciated the predictive features which makes texting easier but has a few quirks). This phone has a wireless hotspot, which is easy to configure and works well for when you need to connect your laptop or another device in a pinch. Choosing this phone factor means you are going to have to accept its limitations. You're just not going to get things done like you can on a smartphone. Setting it up was a bear and making the transition was tough but ultimately worth it for me when it did not seek my attention when out with friends. I've been using this to get off social media and focus more on work/life, really recommend! Battery life isnt like old school Nokia's but still great. Phone was unlocked and compatible with Tello and Mint mobile. Call quality was somehow better than my samsung z flip 3. T9 predictive text is a huge benefit for this "dumb phone" as well as working GPS and wifi hotspot. Any typical phone glitches (ie no signal) can be easily fixed by just restarting the phone. 0 issues for me. ... show more
