  • A Rain So Wonderful - Sure To Be Kids' Favorite Book
Format: Kindle
A wonderful book for young kids that engages the imagination both from the words utilized as well as the bright and vibrant illustrations. This book expresses emotions of happiness, a bit of sadness, but has a very strong happy ending. It is one of those rare books that are never appreciated until their discovered by the reader and then become so very treasured. This book is one of those rare finds. The story begins with a happy cloud floating high in the sky, enjoying a welcoming breeze as it watches the loveliest happenings down below. This cloud loves seeing squirrels hunting for nuts and scrambling around in the park, a cat slinking around the neighborhood, but most of all watching the children playing outdoors. He’s a good little cloud, staying puffy and white, collecting water, and then shedding rain when he’s full. Though, this cloud has a problem—he doesn’t like seeing everyone dashing and scampering away when he lets out his rain. You’ll find out what happens when he decides to never let himself rain again when you read this book. You’ll be amazed at how quickly this book becomes the reader’s/listener’s favorite. It’s a lovely story parents won’t mind reading again and again to their little one. It’s very well written, a pleasure to peruse through the artwork, engaging, imaginative, thought-provoking for young minds, and children will absolutely fall in love with the ending. ... show more

  • What a gorgeous book!
Format: Kindle
What a gorgeous book! This is a story about a cloud that doesn't want to rain because it will make all her friends will go inside and she'll be lonely. Not only did it remind me of a child needing to go toilet and the difficulties with "holding on", but it also teaches that just because you're different doesn't mean that people won't like you. I loved the illustrations - bright and colorful and sure to entice any preschooler (or parent). The story is just gorgeous too, teaching life lessons in a subtle way. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Fantastic illustrations by David Overholt bring to life the colorful
Format: Kindle
NO RAIN TODAY is a lovely tale about a rain cloud that doesn't want to drop its rain on the animals and kid below. 'Heavy Little Cloud' must find a way to hold in its moisture. Fantastic illustrations by David Overholt bring to life the colorful, clever prose of Kristen Iten. It is subtle, but meaningful. As with all great children's stories, NO RAIN TODAY not only educates about weather, but teaches life lessons as well. Not every thing is what it seems, not everyone that rains on you wishes you harm, and sometimes what seems to be a characteristic fault is actually a charm. This is a wonderful book to snuggle up to a fireplace with, surround yourself with children, and read aloud. ... show more

  • Attention-Grabbing with Metaphorical Value
Format: Kindle
'No Rain Today' by Kristen Iten is another one of her picture books that captured my attention. The pictures help move the story along, even though I felt there could have been more of the cloud itself, since it was the main character. The children and animals are enjoying the day until rain seems imminent, so they hurry inside, and the cloud seems upset by its sudden lack of company when no one is around for it to watch over. There is metaphorical value at work in the book as well, since, as the cloud tried to hold in its rain to prevent its friends from going inside and "leaving it" reminded me of a young child trying to hold in his or her need to go to the bathroom. Young children often do this because they are afraid of what they will miss if they leave, and the cloud is afraid of what it will miss if its "friends" are no longer outside to hang around. When the cloud realized that even the threat of rain caused its friends to hurry away, it discovered that sometimes doing what you need to do can be the best thing, because there will always be someone or something that will appreciate the effort made. There is one young girl in the story who comes out with her umbrella, waiting for the pitter-patter and drip-drop of rain, and the happiness she feels when she gets what she wants is enough to make the cloud understand that even though you can't please everyone all of the time, there is always going to be at least someone or something that is happy with whatever you can give. A solid and motivational story, 'No Rain Today' by Kristen Iten delivers a cute, relatable storyline that children and adults alike will find comfort in. • No Rain Today
Format: Kindle
I have to admit that I am a kid at heart. I enjoy children's stories even when not reading them to youngsters. You can't go wrong with this book. It has absolutely beautiful illustrations. The character (cloud included) have such animated expressions, and are caught in freeze-frame actions, showing all their joys and disappointments. The author sneaks in bits of alliteration to make it a joy to read out loud, like "drop my drips" and "squeeze out my sprinkles." Plus the cloud does not "say" things. Instead he "puffs" and "billows," actions that again will add to the delight of children when someone reads the story out loud and demonstrates these actions. One clear message from the book is to "Be yourself. You can't please everyone all the time." Another more subtle message is, "That rain cloud following you might not be quite as awful as you think. Make the best of seemingly 'bad' situations, and find something good and exciting in them." ... show more

  • An excellent kiddies book
Format: Kindle
This is a top shelf children's book of the highest quality, and I can give you two reasons, as to why I believe this to be true. Firstly: the sentences are beautifully put together in a cohesive, easy to read manner for young kiddies. The words simply run of the tongue in an almost poetic fashion. Secondly: I was very impressed by the quality of the pictures. They draw the eye with vivid colour and images, expertly accompanying the words underneath. I'm sure this will be a great hit for little ones. An excellent children's book ... show more
