The quality of the materials and the camera module is surprisingly better than I thought for this price point, connecting to wifi and pairing up was a breeze as you just need to download the 'Bird Lover' app and scan the QR code shown using the camera from the bird feeder device! Please note there is a rubberized cover around micro USB port which is removable and you can find the switch to turn it on and off, this was a bit tricky to find out initially as the instructions are not clear in the manual! It also has option to insert the memory card and the camera module swivels for easy access! I tested the app features like capturing photos, videos, two way communication and the motion detection and pretty pleased by the way it functions! ... show more

I have a friend who posted pictures of the birds she has been seeing on her bird feeder and I decided that I wanted to get one for myself (hers was a different brand). The assembly was a bit complicated and the instructions so-so. There are quite a few things to like about this bird feeder with camera. The picture quality is quite amazing, is the first. The sensitivity of the camera is also very good, see picture with the fly :). The solar panel has been working solidly for 2 months now, so not having to charge it manually is wonderful. It was also easy to connect the camera to the app on my phone. I chose not to pay the extra for storage or bird identification. My only issue so far, is that the camera is so sensitive that I get notifications almost constantly for the motion in the distance. I even put the feeder about 6 feet off of the ground to try and prevent that. I haven't seen any birds so far (I turned off the notifications when I went on vacation and forgot to turn the back on), but do get great sunsets. I'm looking forward to seeing some birds now that my notifications are back on. ... show more

I purchased this feeder for my neighbor and friend, who loves to experiment with bird feeders to attract more birds. This feeder is his absolute favorite now! He finally got to capture all of his guests on camera, including red and blue robins, crows, woodpeckers, hummingbirds and squirrels, of course! The best part is that now he can see all visitors at nighttime, which he could never do before. He loves the AI feature that identifies all birds for him, and there is an option to research each bird on the app, too. We set up the feeder together, and it was a very easy process. It charges with solar panel, so no need to charge it ever. The camera makes great quality pictures and videos, and can be connected and controlled through the app you download from the QR code on the box. The other cool feature is the build in mic to warn off squirrels and 1.5 liters capacity for the food, so it lasts for a few days. Having seen this amazing device, my kids are asking for the same feeder to set up on our porch to see our visitors and have close up pictures of them. I totally support this idea, and we will get one for us and I think it’s a great education tool! ... show more

There are some great things about this feeder and some not so great things about it. I've spent quite a bit of time with it so I can say I have a little bit of experience with it and there are still some things I can't get to function correctly. First off, the bird feeder is great. It's decently made and easy to assemble and fill. It comes with all the necessary hardware to mount it and I chose to mount it on a 4 x 4 and post it in my yard. It's very easy to attach the solar panel and I get constant battery life without ever having to charge it. The bird food doesn't fully pour out of the feeder when the birds get through the food in the tray, but the birds have no issues moving the food around and getting the rest out so I don't have to adjust it. As far as setting up the camera, it's a little tricky. You have to get the camera to register a QR code on your phone to pair the device and it took me a long time to do both times I set it up. I think the light around me creates a glare and can't see the screen of my phone. On top of that, you have limited time to get it to register or you have to reset the camera. It would be better to just use a wifi pairing that doesn't require showing a code to the screen. However, the picture quality is fantastic. You can see the birds clearly with no issue. It does have a front focus that will blur out the background so you may need to angle it down a bit because the birds tend to sit directly in the tray rather than on the perch. The trouble is with the app. The app is clunky and confusing and the directions are difficult and sometimes impossible to understand. The biggest issue I had is that the app would stop recording and sending notifications after about 24 hours. I have to go out and reset it and start the process over if I want to receive notifications. Hopefully this can be fixed in an update, but I've given up on resetting it because so many birds were using the feeder that I was getting too many notifications. However, I can still connect to the feeder and view it live and record things from the app. For some reason, I can't figure out how to use the AI in anything but the live view. There seems to be no way to use it on recordings. There are a set of actions on the bottom of the app that are meant to work for both recordings and live view, but when you navigate to a recording, you lose access to the action buttons and can't use the AI. When I do use the AI identification on the live view, it super accurate as long as you have a good profile of the bird. It's almost always correct when I use it. You do have to pay if you want to use the cloud storage, but considering the number of birds using the feeder, it's just easier to do the recordings myself when I want to. Overall, it's not bad but if the app could be redesigned and made more intuitive, it would be perfect. ... show more
