  • Please read important!
You CAN charge this from a wall outlet, you could even use the cord that came with your switch, you do not have to be playing it for it to charge. I don't know why they're lying about it but they are I literally have it plugged into my wall and it's working great. I had both of my sets of joy cons charged within five hours after I got this and plugged it into the wall . I will even include pictures showing that it's charging from the wall, The reason this upsets me is simply twice I almost did not purchase something because of what I read and reviews in both times I decided to go ahead the worst that can happen is I would have to return it and both times I found that The majority of the 3 to 1 star reviews were made up there was nothing true with it and I'm really sad about that, I don't want people missing out on a great product because somebody is better about a Nintendo product. I will say this and it's sad and it's petty but there are a lot of people in the gaming community who were going out of their way to try to make the Nintendo switch fail and I don't understand it there are problems admittedly I haven't had any issues with my system and I don't know anybody that's had issues with their systems but I have heard reports, but that happens with every product at lunch let's be realistic. back to the point this product works great I am very happy with it I encourage anybody that has two sets of joy cons to get this one charger after that you won't need anything else :-) I've taken pictures with it plugged into the wall I've taken pictures of it in comparison to the grip that came with the system, I've taken pictures of it connected to the switch while charging, I've taken pictures of it connected to the wall connected to the switch while charging,((( now there is one thing you will see that the light is on in all of these pictures , that light don't stay on the entire time it's being charged that light shuts off after a couple seconds it's just like the docking station that light comes on to let you know hey it's in there and then it shuts off while it charging .))) I hope that this helps guys I've just read so much misinformation and there's a lot of people again who were just really hoping that the switch fails and I don't understand it, wey Xbox Nintendo PlayStation and even some random offbrand stuff LOL we have every system dating back from nes every major system I'm not a Nintendo fan girl I just love videogames and I hate when I see things being misrepresented because a certain group doesn't like it ... show more

  • Does exactly what it says.
EDIT: 7 years in, many falls, still works, and no cracks. If you've tried the included grip, you know exactly what you're getting here, except that the plastic is semi-translucent (but dark). Only other difference is the USB-C connection to plug this into a USB port to charge it. Maybe not worth it full-price but definitely get it at a discount if you want a nice controller holder that can help charge extra controllers. It comes with a nice Nintendo-branded USB-C cable which you could also use to charge the Switch itself with USB power. Can't dock it any stars because it came in a nice simple package. If anything though, this should be what comes standard with the Switch so you can charge controllers without needing to dock them into the Switch. You can charge and play so it's a no-brainer if you like using the grip but don't want to stop playing to charge. ... show more

  • Awesome grip charger for people who love the feel of the original!
Got it for $25. Don't buy it if it's being gouged for more than $30 (MSRP). Anyways, works perfectly, comes with it's own cable and all that good stuff. Wish the cable was longer, bc generally don't like to sit that close to the tv/entertainment center, but that's okay. Otherwise, it's a great control and I wish they just included this with the console itself! I saw some people mentioning wall charging and just wanted to say to be careful bc ac adapters have different voltages and you could possibly fry your joycon battery. It works just fine with my charging hub that has a voltage regulator though. ... show more

  • There's several things/misconceptions to keep in mind
First off, yes, you can charge it via the wall. The Nintendo Switch Dock's AC adapter can be used with the Joy-Con Charging Grip. Second, the Joy-Con Charging Grip (at least mine) should come with a USB to USB C cable. That cable can actually be used with a power bank to charge your Switch! Thirdly, you don't need to plug the cable into the Nintendo Switch Dock to charge it. If it is a somewhat high powered USB port, it will more than likely charge the Joy-Cons connected to the Charging Grip. In other words, yes a power bank can also be used to charge the Joy-Cons connected to the Charging Grip. If you're running out of USB ports to charge all the Nintendo Switch accessories which may or may not include the Switch itself, I recommend a "100 PERCENT Hybrid Charging Tower". Its a charging tower that has two AC outlets, 4 USB outlets, and a detachable 3000 MaH power bank. That right there is pretty much perfect for any Switch set up. Here's the direct Amazon link to it: https://www.amazon.com/100-PERCENT-Charging-Smartphones-Worry-Free/dp/B01MCRUC2O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550125283&sr=8-1&keywords=100+percent+hybrid Before you ask, yes, you can use the power bank from that product to charge your Switch. So long as the cable is the one from a Joy-Con Charging Grip set. Oh right, one more thing, you can charge the Joy-Cons with the Charging Grip overnight if you have to. It won't "overcharge" it so to speak. So charge away if you need to! That's what they're for! I lied, one more thing, the cable that comes with the Charging Grip can also be founded bundled with a Pro Controller. Please note that this cable from Nintendo CANNOT be bought by itself! If you want one, you either have to get a Pro Controller, or buy one of these Charging Grips here. Well, that was a longer review than I expected to make for what is (or at least should be) a straightforward device! But seriously though, people don't talk about the cable being able to charge the Switch itself enough! That's something very important that every Switch owner should know! ... show more
