Wasn't too sure about these when I saw them online. I was expecting something cheaply made and something that felt equally cheap in my hand. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and unpacked the contents. Everything was well packaged and nothing was scratched or damaged. The lights are heavy gauge metal body construction and are very sturdily built. I wouldn't recommend using the cardboard template though. U installed the first one without using it and everything came out good. Using the template, the holes were off a little and had to be bored out a little larger in order to get the bolt through the hole. Just slide the light through the cutout you make then mark the mounting holes and drill - perfect fit. I can't wait to see the difference these things make. As you can see in the picture, the bag contains bolts, buts and washers. It also contains an allen wrench to tighten the bolts. I could barely tell when my factory reverse lamps came on. After installing these lamps, I can clearly see when I am backing up. I get great illumination at least 50 feet behind my truck now; more than enough to safely back up without worry. I hope to get a long life of use from these, but if I were still deciding on which set to buy, I'd choose these. As I was installing them, a neighbor came by and said they looked great on the truck and that they didn't look aftermarket or out of place at all. All-in-all I would say the install is fairly easy with minimal "mechanical knowledge" required. Tools required: 4 1/2" grinder to cut through the bumper, needle nose vice grips, marker, drill with bit. On a 1 (easy) to 10 (hard) scale I'd give the install procedure a 2. The last picture shows the lights on. You can see the OEM reverse lights under the tail lights Huge difference. ******UPDATE****** About a week after installing the lights, I noticed one light was not working. I have not figured out yet what the problem is. I was thinking it was shorting out but that doesn't seem to be the problem. If I tap the back of the light, it will turn on (as long as it is suppose to be on). Now I am thinking it is defective. ... show more

I was having trouble seeing when backing up at night time, probably because of my 5% tint on my windows. And on my first gen Tundra (2000) the reverse lights are small anyway so I had to do something. So I tried a pair of driving lights first from Wal-Mart, they lasted about 8 months and one of them went out. I had been wanting some like these but wasn't ready to cut holes in my back bumper. I was more than ready this time and I am so glad I did. These lights help tremendously in reverse. Installation was a breeze for me after cutting the holes and getting them to fit I tracked downy reverse wire under the back and tapped right into it since it was pretty much right there. One suggestion tip I can give is to make sure you take your line off when cutting your template markings. I played it safe at first and had to trim both holes 3 times then realized all I had to do was hog the line with my grinder Didn't have to add any wire or anything so it was a win win for me and love the output these give. Purchased these very last minute for a rear bumper I had built after realizing the lights I had wouldn’t work. The black housing is coated nicely and the lens is crystal clear. They have been on through several storms now and absolutely no sign of condensation. During my last outing, I managed to back into a low lying tree limb that ultimately hit the light on the passenger side and it took it like a champ with no visible damage except some scratches. Lights are bright enough for my application with the right amount of spot and flood to allow me to see just about everything, except what doesn’t show in my mirrors. If youre worried about water intrusion then take the time to remove the screws holding in the glass and make sure the gasket is properly in place then tighten goodn tite.. put a sploodge of silly cone on the wire grommet and youre golden.. comes with all the mounting hardware and are both spot and flood so perfect for reverse lights which is what i used em for.. sturdy metal housing, work great ... show more

The ease of which these will be installed, is all based on where and what you install these on/in. I installed these as reverse lights in a camper build I'm doing, for more light while backing up during dispersed camping at night AND as a little more notification in parking lots for easily distracted, preoccupied modern day drivers. AKA for safety reasons. I first made a templet out of thin cardboard to help with my install and wired them directly to my reverse light wire, entering the housing. This light and an LED bulb installed in place of the incandescent reverse lightbulb originally in the socket, still didnt quite add up to the same watts per old bulb.
