  • still working fine but kind of cheap
they're pretty good for retrofits, as long as you're willing to do a little modifying. but they fit well after and have held up. I have had a problem with the wiring a bit recently, but that's probably my fault.

  • Work Amazing. You get what you pay for
I have an 05. I installed LEDs, which were a decent upgrade. However, I got tired of the crappy beam pattern, so I got these projectors. My experience has been a bit of a mixed bag, but overall they've been great. Lets start with the beam pattern. Assuming your bulbs are in correctly (more on that in a second), you'll get an excellent beam pattern. They are much wider and throw a good amount of light to the sides, and they illuminate at least twice as far as a standard halogen in a reflector (probably more). Compare it to a standard halogen, where the beam is very narrow. This is done to focus most of the light to the front. Despite this, the projector far outshines any stock setup, and most OEM projectors too. They also have a sharp cutoff with some color. It could use more color, but it's not bad. Same can be said about cutoff; It is good, but there's room for improvement. Something I don't like very much is all the foreground lighting. I'd like it if there were much less of it, so I can decide if I want foreground lighting or not with my fog lights. Some people say that foreground lighting limits your ability to see into the distance, and I partially agree. with that said, I can see much further with these, despite having all the foreground lighting + fog lights. Lets talk about a big annoyance: the bulb holders. I simply cannot overstate how ridiculously important it is that the bulb sits just right in the projector. If it's tilted in any direction, even just a little bit, then the beam will not look right, and likely won't illuminate right either. That hotspot I was talking about is super important. Without it, you'll have a hard time seeing anything more than 100 feet away. They might perform WORSE than a standard halogen. Something you absolutely have to do is shim the bulbs. There's more info on forums and stuff, but basically you put small pieces of cardboard between the bulb base and the projector to adjust the bulb. You can see in one of the pictures (the one where one of the beams is a little higher than the other) the difference between a properly installed bulb and an improperly installed one. For the one on the left, I simply put the bulb in the projector. For the one on the right, I spent about 15 minutes shimming it. Notice how the left bulb has no hotspot. Also, the entire beam has this weird streaking, and the cutoff is all messed up. Not only does the beam on the right have the all-important hotspot, but the beam is overall brighter, has no streaking, and has a much better looking cutoff. It seems like the bulbs tilt upwards slightly, which hides the hotspot above the cutoff. I had to use 4 pieces of relatively thick cardboard to get the bulbs to sit right. I have to acknowledge that the H1 mounting system is not good, and I know that shimming is often necessary even in much more expensive projectors. However, this is simply bad design, since the bulbs shouldn't be that out of alignment. I don't want to discourage you; Shimming is not super difficult, and just because it has to be done on these projectors to a much greater extent doesn't mean that they're terrible and that you shouldn't buy them. If you do buy them, you basically MUST do this. I think its very likely that someone just buys these, never shims the bulbs, and just drives almost blind, not noticing since there is still a bunch of light directly in front and to the sides. Another thing that I don't like is the shroud. They are a bit small and don't look very good IMO, but they're not terrible. You can replace them anyways, so its not a big deal. Overall, these projectors work great if you're willing to spend the time getting the bulbs to sit just right. I'm very satisfied with them. I just wish they offered a smoother experience. ... show more

  • Pretty good
Hard to beat what you get for the price. Add a good quality led replacement for your bulb and maybe a led for a demon eye effect and you will completely face-lift your lighting on a older car. Only wish they would have added a female connector for the high beam solenoid. But Beats having just bare wires. ... show more

  • Great lights for cheap retrofit on an older car
Used on a 9004 car, while not explicitly supported you can easily make it work with the included parts and a little minor trimming etc. Baked my lights apart, threaded in, put in H1 HID bulbs and a 9004 to bixenon harness and they worked just like factory bixenon should. Great cutoff and distribution when you consider their smaller lens size and amazing price point. ... show more

  • Great value on the product. Gamble on customer service.
The media could not be loaded. These projectors seems to be very popular with many questions from buyers so I'll try to be very thorough with my review. Purchase experience: I purchased these projectors 3 months ago, and at the time it was $39.99 (currently priced at $31.99), so doesn't sound bad at all for a pair of projectors + shrouds + mounting hardware. When my package arrived in the mail, I first inspected the contents and noticed that it was missing a set of shroud screws and also one of the lenses were chipped at the very edge (functions fine but cosmetically unappealing). I contacted the seller and they agree to send me a replacement lens and screws. I receive my second package.... and appears they send me an entire projector! No screws still. The problem is it's a different model projector and the lens is shaped differently - so it's no use to me. I decide to just call it a loss and continue with my build. Went out to the hardware store and source my own screws. I understand there are multiple vendors that sell under the same Amazon listing, and I don't see that vendor listed anymore. So chances are you may not get the same idiotic customer service as I did. Product quality: This is my first retrofit, and I'm sure a lot of buyers on here are too otherwise you'd buy the more expensive stuff. The projectors felt solid and very well made. They seem to be one of the better generic Mini H1 projectors on the market. Lens optics appear true without any distortion. Solenoids activate and deactivate normally. The cut-off shields seem a bit on the flimsy side but does not affect performance. Chrome bowls look very smooth and no gritty texture as I've seen in some other generic Mini H1 projectors. Fitment: This will vary from user to user but my retrofit process went smoothly. My vehicle is a 2015 Jeep Wrangler and I used my OEM 7" round headlight housings. They are very small in comparison to other modern vehicles, but I made it work by trimming the backside in order for the projectors to fit. The nice thing about the threaded shaft on the backside of MH1's is once you mount them, you can still make clockwise/counter clockwise rotation after your housings are resealed, so they are great for beginner retrofitters. I had to fine tune mine this way. I installed a Morimoto H1 4500k HID 35w kit into these projectors. They were not a direct fit because for some reason the projector bulb holes were slightly smaller than the bulb base. I had to shave some of the plastic from the bulb in order for it to fully seat, not a big deal. If you bought a cheaper HID kit with metal bases, they might fit directly as I've seen before. Performance: Everything has been working fine for the past 3 months. I'll update this review if anything changes but I don't anticipate that. The cutoff is pretty good - not as sharp as high end models but that is expected. There is a bit of blue color flicker at the edge of the cut-off line which gives it a nice effect. These projectors provide much much better beam width than my factory halogen headlights. On really dark roads I can clearly see off to the sides where there are sidewalks or ditches. With my old factory ones, they were harder to see. My video includes low and high beam, so take a look if you're interested. Overall: I am happy with the value of these projectors. Although I feel like I have already outgrown them and am ready to build my next set with better projectors. I gave 4 out of 5 stars mainly because of customer service. So if you don't want to deal with that, you can find other online retailers with similar price point but much better customer service. ... show more
