These are perfect. I bought them because my bedroom is the coldest room in the house. My windows are those old aluminum sliding windows. I need to replace them, and have winterized them, but the cold still comes in. Then, I bought these curtains. I can't believe how thermal they really are. With these closed, my room has really warmed up. I will be buying these for the rest of the house. They are also great because they let light in, but they aren't see-through., even at night. All around a perfect product especially for the sale price I got these for! Haven't washed them yet but have read there are no issues with washing them as anything else! They do provide a excellent black out, however, if you look really closely, you can see lite through extremely small pin holes in the fabric but it's definitely not enough to tell if your not 2 feet in front of it staring at it like staring into the galaxy. I purchased these for the blackout and thermal properties. I orders a lighter color and knew that the light would most likely shine through. While these do not 100% blackout they are very close to it. The thermal aspect is spot on. My bed is next to a window and with the current cold spell I have not felt a breeze at all while I sleep. Very pleased. Really. I'm 50 and was a 20 yr career military wife. I have owned a lot of curtains. A lot. These are so nice. They do block light, they hang smoothly; we didn't even steam them they just hung out. We are in an apt after owning a house and the lack of color ( we can't paint) is really hard for me. These run floor to ceiling and it is like having an accent wall of color. They are so beautiful, it really helps a lot. They move well on the rod for open and close. Even my daughter commented on how nice they are and said she bet they helped me to feel like this is more home than highrise rental. They are just so thick and hang so nicely. My husband works shift work so I got these to try to block out light when he's sleeping during the day.....they are amazing!!! Zero light gets through if you make sure they are closed completely in the middle. Room is so dark at night I can't even see my hand in front of my face!

In the meantime, we bought these inexpensive blackout curtains for our bedroom and living room for privacy, and to allow us to sleep at night. The big holes in the top allow us to use inexpensive tension type shower rods to hold them up, since we don’t plan on installing rods for drapes or curtains. Works great.
