I bought these in the olive green to go across a large bay type set of windows to block out the glare on our television. They are 52"x84" and the opening I was covering was 102". I did not take into account the amount of width that would be lost due to the pleats naturally caused by the grommets so when pulled together there's still a little gap on the edges. But I can live with it because they don't make the color I wanted in a wider size. The quality of the material is really good and thick and the black backing really does block 100% of the light coming through the windows. However, there is no direct sunlight coming through those particular windows so I can't really speak to whether they will block 100% of direct sunlight. They were pretty wrinkled coming out of the package and the directions for ironing said low heat. Low heat would NOT remove the wrinkles and I was able to set the iron hotter without causing any damage. It just took a long time to remove them. The edges of the curtains flare out which does not give them anywhere near the finish of a custom set but then you get what you pay for. I gave a 5 star rating on "sheerness" just because they aren't sheer at all which is what I wanted and an overall 4 star because of the flaring of the edges. ... show more

I'm a complete novice when it comes to buying and installing curtains. Fortunately my daughter isn't. I thought I could order two panels that covered my large bedroom window, but that wouldn't have been possible. She told me to order four panels (two packages) instead, which worked. I also learned that it's best to have the curtain rod installed a few inches above the window for optimal light blocking. I ordered the slate blue curtains and a curve-around blackout rod (separate order). I'm very happy with them; they not only block out 99% of the light but also a considerable amount of noise. Our neighbor across the street was cutting up tree branches, and I was thrilled that the sound diminished when I closed the curtains. Yes, the curtains are a little wrinkled, but I don't particularly care. YMMV, of course. ... show more

These definitely block the light, my bedroom is completely dark even in the middle of the day with these curtains closed. I don’t really need the light blocking, but I did want thicker curtains to help insulate my windows against the cold winter weather and I do feel like they help. The color is a very bright white, just what I wanted. They do seem to be holding some winkles from where they were folded in the package, I haven’t tried washing them because some reviews said they lost there super bright white color but I plan on steaming them, I just haven’t gotten that far yet. ... show more

The photos are of the same view. The one with the curtains closed is at the same time of day that was creating a glare on my lens from all the light coming through the window. These curtains are BOMB. Honestly they almost work TOO well. It’s hard to get out of bed when my bedroom is like the inside of a womb. But absolutely recommend. Well worth the money. The fabric is also nice and wrinkle free, if that’s what you care about. I got them so I can sleep after my overnight shifts. They’re just as effective as taking several xanax lol. 10/10 ... show more

Not super dark like other pictures but it’s better then it was before. Great for babies nap. I live in a house that was built in the 1900s and the busy street in front of our house is loud. Some how these curtains help lower that noise from the cars passing. I would recommend 100 percent!! Also the material is great quality and so soft!! One thing that’s annoying from amazon is that there is wayyyy to much option of the items your lolking for and you have to search hours to find a good one. Look no more just get theses. I got the 52W by 63L. Thinking it would be short for my window but i would have rather gotten the 52w by 54L. Go with the measurements and don’t doubt yourself! Like i did. ... show more

These do a really great job at keeping light out. If you want complete darkness you'll have to address any gaps formed by how you have them mounted, but I've combined them with another product and some cloth at the top to achieve that.
