  • Not bad, does what it claims
Size: 70x84 Color: Biscotti Beige
Let me start out by saying that I am an engineer (two actual engineering degrees not one that makes a claim without the paper to back it up). I know sound and how to remove sound. These curtains do not eliminate sound, so don't expect as such. No hanging curtain can fully remove all normal sound. My wife and I are trying to minimize the sound level to our bedroom as that's also my wife's stay at home office. I used these curtains and checked the sound level before and after to determine their effectiveness. I made sure the curtains overlapped the sides and top by 4-5 inches. With one curtain the sound was reduced by about 8 db's. To put that in perspective 10 db's double's the perceived loudness to an individual. That is equivalent to closing a hollow interior door between you and some form of noise on the other side. I then added a second curtain and was able to obtain about the same level of reduction. So in total about 15db's or a 3 times reduction in perceived loudness. Depending on the type of noise (low level TV in the next room) one curtain would drop the sound level to no less than a whisper with mostly low frequency noise entering the room. Without the curtain you could clearly understand not only the show but the entire scene. With two curtains the television almost became non existent. With medium level music two curtains would significant reduce the level of high frequency sound, but not much of the low frequency base. You could still hear the base fairly well although it had been muffled significantly. Ultimately these curtains work and do what they claim. People that claim otherwise are just clueless when it comes to understanding sound, perceived loudness, decibels, and sound penetration. Just like social media they talk as if they are educated when in reality they aren't. As for us these curtains aren't the color and size that fits well with our room. Else we would probably keep them. ... show more

  • Great curtains, truly blackout
Size: 70x63 Color: Grey
So I initially bought a pair of tan colored linen texture curtains for my room, but they let in a ton of light. I don't think any light actually came through the curtains themselves, but due to their bright color they would bleed light out around the edges. My walls are white, so this allowed significant light in. I then switched to these dark curtains, and they're perfect! Also, for anyone out there who wants to black out their room, make sure you buy curtains significantly larger than your window. The first curtains I bought were about a foot taller than my window and when the curtains were fully stretched out they were about two feet wider. Much too small! These curtains are a good 3-4 feet taller than my windows, they hang about a foot higher than my window and extend about 2 feet below. They're also significantly wider, so that even when the curtains are closed the fabric is not stretched flat. I would recommending getting curtains that have a maximum width of at least almost double your window size because once you hang them you want their to be some folds in them. Also, having extra fabric helps block out sound and it also insulates a lot better. Some people on here complain about the fabric being wrinkled out of the bag. Personally, I barely even notice the wrinkles on the dark surface. They're obviously there when you look at it but unless I was thinking about it I don't even think I would notice. ... show more

  • Best sleep I’ve gotten in years
Size: 52x63 Color: Royal Purple
I am a light sleeper and a night owl… unfortunately when I go to bed late, I can’t enjoy sleeping in on the weekends because as soon as day breaks I can see lights and usually I’d have a migraine. I recently started working overnight shift and decided I have to be able to sleep in the day time and boy have I been sleeping! These curtains are amazing! Just a slight shadow of light at the top but not enough to make sleeping difficult for you. I mean man I’m sleeping for hrs and hrs and hrs. And surprisingly my room stays cool! All that direct sun during the day that I could still feel the Florida heat through the blinds used to have me sleeping and sweating even with Air and fan on. I love these. Get ‘em you won’t regret it! And the purple is just beautiful and it’s so thick! I’m gonna get more for my other bedroom! ... show more

  • These are well worth it
Size: 52x63 Color: Pure White
I ordered the 54x63 to be sure they were wide enough for my house built in 1862 with the original windows. I think that was overkill but I am SO happy with them! I had an issue with one set (I bought 5) and contacted the seller. They were quick to rectify the issue so I have 5 perfect sets. Only one set was wrinkled to the point I had to do something about it. I was not keen to use an iron on it due to the material so I hung that set in the bathroom and the steam from the showers did the trick. This summer with the heat that has been unbearable, I needed to block out as much of the sun and heat as possible to have the AC not die from being overworked. When I had them all up, it was about 1 pm. I shut all the curtains and it was like I was in a cave. Legit! They are just amazing. I can't say they do much for noise reduction but I live in town so there's lots of noise anyway. I would recommend Nice town curtains for the complete black out experience. We can even watch a dark scary movie at high noon and have no problem seeing the movie. I'd say these are movie theater quality 100% ... show more

  • True Blackout Curtains
Size: 70x95 Color: Stone Blue
These completely block all light. They work best with a wrap-around curtain rod for full blackout on the sides if you place the rings on in a way that it folds in on each side. For 8-foot ceilings, buy a 95-inch length curtain. And each panel should be double the width of the window for proper window coverage. If you google it, interior designers recommend placing the curtain rod well above the window. If you put the rod about 1 inch from the ceiling, you probably won't need to hem the curtains. I have blinds that have a valance on the top, and I'm going to put a little foam in between the valance and window to block the only light which peeks out above the curtain. I've put a set in every bedroom in my house. The fabric is nice and definitely does give some extra window insulation. The fabric has a slight shine to it. I'd prefer no shine, but I'm still very pleased with them. ... show more
