This trolling motor battery cable extension kit allows you to extend the length of your trolling motor cables by 10 feet, allowing for better weight distribution of your boat through battery relocation. Adding a trolling motor to your boat can quickly change the weight distribution, and handling characteristics, especially of smaller craft like kayaks, canoes and Jon boats. This weight distribution is further complicated by large, heavy marine batteries that often double or triple the weight of a motor. The new wiring extension kit by Newport solves this Issue by allowing you to place the battery anywhere in your kayak, Jon or other boat! allowing you to correct the uneven weight distribution without risk to you, passengers, or the trolling motor. A thick, 8 gauge wire ensures there is no performance loss through the extended battery cable between the battery and the trolling motor. Wire gauge is plenty to handle the amperage to Newport Vessels trolling motor...purchased to extend the 4-ft cables on a 55 lb thrust Newport Vessels trolling motor, no issues with current or the cables running warm. Only downside is that the POSITIVE lead is too small for the positive battery post on my size 29DC EverStart marine battery. Positive posts are typically larger diameter than the negative. The manufacturer didn't account for this difference, both connectors are the same diameter, so I had to drill out the positive connector lead in order to fit around the positive battery terminal. Not a major issue, but something to be aware of when ordering these extension cables. The 2 cables are also not attached to one another, so plan on zip-tying them together or keeping them coiled up can be an issue. ... show more

This cable set allowed me to place my extremely heavy deep cycle battery in the bow of my 12 foot Pelican Intruder Jon boat. I weigh 260 and distributing the weight allows the boat to perform perfectly. this allowed me to shift some weight forward and help balance the boat better. 15' jon boat with 25 hp electric start and stern mounted trolling motor and me all in the back wasn't working well. I moved the two batteries forward with the extensions. much better now. easy to couple to existing battery leads with supplied nuts and bolts and waterproof tape. everything worked as it should. fair price and fast shipping ... show more

I wish they made one with a larger shaft because this does not stick far enough into the water for my boat. I get cavitation which results in unpleasant slurping noise and loss of power. Yuck. Other than that. It's plastic. So are the name brands, so... is there a difference? Time will tell.
