The Newborn 930-Gtd Drip-Free Smooth Hex Rod Cradle Caulking Gun Has A Steel Half-Barrel Frame That Fits 1/10-Gal. Cartridges And Has A 10:1 Thrust Ratio For Use With Low Viscosity Materials Such As Latex. The Smooth Pressure Rod Requires Less Force And Is Quieter Than A Ratchet- Style Pressure Rod. The Rod Retracts After Each Pull Of The Trigger, Removing Pressure From The Tube To Help Prevent Dripping. The Handle And Trigger Are Padded For Comfort. There Is A Welded Plate In The Back For Securing The Cartridge In Place. A Seal Puncture Tool And A Spout Cutter Are Built Into The Side Of Gun For Opening Cartridges Without A Knife, And The Hook On The Back Allows It To Hang On A Ladder. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is one of the best caulking guns on the market, at least in this price ballpark. It's well made with good features, but most importantly, it is very smooth operating. I have three of these, but recently bought the two I'm talking about in this review. I used one for normal white trim caulk and the other for clear silicone after installing new base for a Pergo Outlast+ laminate floor install. I was very impressed with the comfort and performance of these caulking guns. I've used a lot of caulking guns over the years but IMO, these are the best I've used. The fad today seems to be with powered caulking guns of which I own two from Milwaukee. However, for finish work they are not a good match. They're great for applying liquid nails for a subfloor install though. Don't be fooled thinking you can use them for every job. Trust me, I've tried. These manual caulking guns are so much nicer to use if you're not pumping out cartridge after cartridge of adhesive. ... show more

After using one variant or another of a basic steel caulking gun for 50 years, I was skeptical of one that tried too hard to do too many things, but I was won over by the Newborn Octogun. It's truly non-drip! Stop pulling the trigger and the caulk stops flowing NOW! The description didn't say anything about the paint or coating being easier to keep clean than other guns, but I found that caulk doesn't want to stick as well to the gun, making clean up that much easier and faster. The handle is comfortable, and I tried an older tube of caulk that had some resistance due to hardening caulk in the nozzle. The Newborn gun trigger took a LOT LESS force to push the calk out than my older, ratchet type. My older smooth rod type gun wouldn't push any out, no matter how hard I squeezed. The attached tools, especially the caulk tube cap/plug are handy as well. I'm glad I chose this one. ... show more

I did a lot of researching and decided on this caulk gun. After using it to caulk the bathtub I can say I'm satisfied with the purchase. The handle was comfortable, I was able to cut the tip of the caulk without issue, the puncture tool did its job, and it was drip-free as advertised. This is my first caulk gun, so I can't really compare it to others, but I don't think I'll need to look for another one for a while. ... show more
