I used this to sharpen a lawnmower blade that had not been sharpened since the lawn mower was brought brand new several years ago. It worked very and made the blade look brand new and worked out some of the dents from hittng rocks.

Not easy to use and might even be dangerous. Removed blade from mower and secured in bench vise. The stone can easily “grab” when you attempt to run it along the blade. It does sharpen but one “grab” and it undoes all the work it just accomplished. You need to be very careful about how much pressure you put on it. Too much is what causes problems. For $8.00 it was worth a shot but a good metal file and some patience will get you a sharp mower blade. Do not use this sharpener without work gloves and eye protection! ... show more

Very useful. The trick is not to spin too fast. If you have it spinning at moderate speed you can sharpen the knife perfectly.
