Bought this to sharpen mower blades, comes with a balancer which is a plus. However, first time I tried using it it fell apart, the way it is put together you are better of using it by hand than with a power drill. Only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it comes with a balancer.

Very useful. The trick is not to spin too fast. If you have it spinning at moderate speed you can sharpen the knife perfectly.

I purchased a similar product years ago and it actually worked, so I was hopeful with this product to get the same results. Unfortunately I was disappointed with this product. The only useful item in the package was the blade balancing device to check for balance - much better than using a screwdriver and risking dropping a sharpened blade on your toe... or in this case a dull blade because the sharpeners didn't function as advertised. To my eye, the angle for the grinding stones do not appear to match that of most mower blades. I tried it on a few of my old mower blades first. So I just went back to the tried and true angle grinder method - much faster and if I hold it steady, much sharper/better results! My other mistake was ordering the item earlier in the summer and not using them until after that 30 day return window disappered. I am out $10, but felt the need to warn others. I really wish Amazon had a 60 or 90 day return policy - the big box stores (brick and mortar) offer a 90 day return policy Amazon... That might be how they regain their foothold once people realize and wake up!

I used this to sharpen a lawnmower blade that had not been sharpened since the lawn mower was brought brand new several years ago. It worked very and made the blade look brand new and worked out some of the dents from hittng rocks.
