  • Works well at removing bolts with rounded heads.
Size: One Size
Works well at removing bolts with rounded heads. The oil pan drain bolt on my Chevy Trax (Same as Buick Encore) routinely rounds off when I remove it to drain the oil. A GearWrench extractor socket was able to slip over the rounded bolt head and grip it tight. Allowing me to remove the bolt and continue changing the oil. I highly recommend - getting stranded on a job with a rounded bolt makes this kit a necessity in your kit. (PS: Be prepared with a new replacement bolt!) ... show more

  • Worth every penny...

My 2013 civic Si has 199k miles on it. It never been to a shop. I always do the repairs and maintenance. It was overdue on it's original thermostat. The thermostat is mounted with 3 bolts. Because I live in New England, the two lower bolts were rusted which rounded off when trying to remove them. I almost gave up and bring it to a shop for the first time. I used Liquid Wrenchb and this and was able to replace the thermostat. Worth every cent I spent on buying this. ... show more

  • These work!
Size: One Size
I was assembling a tool cart and didn't get off the trigger on my electric ratchet quick enough. Couple that with an impact socket with significant chamfer torquing on a flange bolt (less exposed bolt head) and it was a perfect formula to round the bolt head. I tried every socket I had and nothing would take it off. I normally use vise grips on such a situation, but this was in a pocket and I couldn't get to them to the bolt. It was while I was installing a caster and I didn't want to leave that rounded bolt in place. If I ever want to take the caster off after full assembly, removal would be a nightmare. Didn't need the tool cart right away, so ordered these. When they came in I found the appropriate size, hammered it in place, then just backed out the bolt which was torqued down pretty tight. Easy, peasy. I would like to sing the praises of these extraction sockets, but the process was so straightforward that there is not much more to say. They work! ... show more

  • Saved My Weekend Project!
Size: One Size
I bought the Gearwrench bolt extractor set on a whim after struggling with a rounded-off bolt on my truck’s exhaust manifold. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting miracles, but this thing worked like a charm. The fit was snug, the grip was tight, and with a little muscle (and a cordless impact), that stubborn bolt came right out. What impressed me most was the build quality—these extractors feel solid and well-machined. They didn’t strip or deform even under serious torque. If you’re like me and always end up dealing with frozen or mangled bolts, this kit is a must-have. Worth every penny! ... show more

  • Straight flute design allows you to "work" a fastener free.
Size: One Size
I don't write many reviews let alone positive ones so that should tell you something right there. As for this product the straight flute design is a great idea and is why I chose this product over the typical spiral/conical/one directional flutes that everyone else makes. 1. As mentioned in the description, straight flutes allow you to loosen and tighten. This is incredibly helpful when gently working a fastener free so as not to break off the stud or bolt in the part. 2. Other designs that "cut" into the fastener can ruin threaded studs that go past the nut, especially when severely corroded and you have to use the smallest extractor possible. That being said, I have recently removed exhaust flange nuts that were practically disintegrated down to the threads on the studs. Access was also limited as the flange had a deep lip that went around the perimeter preventing the use of vice grips or a splitter, it had to be a socket. These were 14mm nuts some of which were so bad I had to use the 11mm bolt biter to spin them off. I thought this would definitely gall the studs a little, but there was just enough bite to grab the smallest amount of metal and spin the nut. Remember, these don't cut/dig into the fastener like other designs which would have ruined my studs. After that all I had to do was run a die over the studs to clean up the roots of the threads and they were good to go. Looking at my pics you would think that can't be real....yeah, and so did I when I was taking apart my exhaust. And, yes, you can actually see between the individual threads of some of those nuts they were that far gone. To be fair, I did employ the usual old school tactics pre soaking with penetrating fluid and using a torch to "break" the corrosion that fuses everything together. Anything less would have made this task impossible regardless of how great the tool. You have to put in your due diligence to solve your particular problem/situation. Don't expect any tool to save your ass, use your head and figure it out. The tool is merely an aid to your success and this particular design allowed me to do just that. I knocked off one star because these are made in China. I should actually give it only two stars because it's made in China maybe even no stars, but I think the design is fantastic and I want to give credit where it's due. I would have gladly paid more for these if made in the USA. ... show more
