Description

The 1080 is the pinnacle offering from New Balance’s running lineup. A combination of top-of-the-line performance technology and wide-ranging accessibility offers runners at every level of intensity more comfort over more distance. Simply put, there isn’t another shoe quite like the 1080. The Fresh Foam X 1080v13 represents a consistent progression of the model’s signature qualities. The smooth transitions of the pinnacle underfoot cushioning experience are fine-tuned with updated midsole mapping, which applies more foam to wider areas of the midsole and increases flexibility at the narrower points. The ultra-modern outlook is also reflected in the 1080’s upper construction. The v13 offers a supportive, breathable fit with an engineered mesh upper, for a more streamlined overall design.

  • What an upgrade from my $60 NewBalance shoes
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Pink Granite/Orb Pink/Limelight
For years, I've been buying used versions of a shoe I found on clearance at Ross's. It was the New Balance WW536, so you know how old that style is if you are a New Balance person. That shoe was the first shoe that always felt better than walking barefoot to me, so I stuck with it. I'm retired, planning a european trip this summer and knew that I needed a better shoe that would be extra padded for all the walking tours I'll be taking. As you age, your natural foot padding thins out and what was comfy and supportive a decade or two ago no longer feels as cushy. So I've tried several different higher end walk/run shoes and finally found that this particular NewBalance 1080 v13 shoe is perfect for me, and amazingly, the same size I've been buying all along is the best fit. I'd say it runs just a little longer than my old NB shoes in the same size. It is truly a joy to walk in and stand in, and I often forget I have them on. Before settling on this, I trialed both Hoka Clifton 9 and an Altra Torin 7 after being fitted at a running store. Both were beautifully constructed shoes with great cushioning, but the toe boxes weren't high enough for me. I loved the mid-spring and rocker of the Hoka but would wake up with sore toes the day after a long walk. I love the barefoot concept and wide toe box of the Altra, but something about the way the Altra is constructed caused my feet to go numb after a while no matter how much I loosened the laces. Of course, that creates heel slippage. Then I walked in this shoe and it was "no contest". The pink granite color is so pretty. Its my version of white. I plan to get a second pair in a darker color as well. Probably one of the blues. The only thing I don't like about this shoe is the way the sole at the heel sticks out backward. Seems a bit clunky and awkward, but so far it hasn't gotten in the way or caused any walking or stumbling issues. Not a deal breaker in any way. ... show more

  • Believe this review
Size: 7 Color: Marine Blue/Sea Salt
I read the reviews on Amazon and decided to buy the shoe - this is the most I have ever spent on a sneaker but the reviews sounded like it was well worth it. I excitedly tried them on and I they feel so good I don't want to ever take them off!! Yes, the review that said they were too cushiony - I can see what they mean - but my feet don't think you could have too much cushion. I also read the reviews on Zappos and DSW and they were by the same people on both websites and the reviews weren't so good. I'm asking you to believe this one. I am 74 yrs old and am concerned with staying active. These are HONESTLY the BEST shoes I have ever had. ... show more

  • Best version yet!
Size: 11 Wide Color: Black/White
I have multiple foot problems and I have been purchasing the 1080s for years.. This is my favorite version. In the last version (12s) they had a wider forefoot area.. Which was fine, and I need that, but reg wasn't wide enough and wide was too wide and too long... Very hard to fit the last version, so I skipped it altogether. This version, my normal size fits.. I do buy a wide because I've had foot surgery and need the extra room. The forefoot area is more cushioned, and therefore more comfortable.. I don't find it excessive or feel like I'm walking in sand.. There is a good return or bounce. I thought the heel was slightly shallow, but I'm hoping that improves as I wear them... They are definitely a keeper and I've already ordered another pair. ... show more

  • Slightly too short
Size: 12 Narrow Color: Pink Granite/Orb Pink/Limelight
These are very comfortable and cushioned. They are also stylish. Unfortunately they run just a bit short.

  • Great shoe
Size: 9 Wide Color: White/Silver Metallic
I usually do not give reviews, and I don't believe a lot of reviews I have read on a lot of products, but on this New Balance shoe, 1080v13, I have to say, I finally found a comfortable shoe again, since New Balance discontinued the 1080y11 that my Foot Dr. and I both wore. I have Plantars fasciitis very bad, to the point that my Dr. gave me a handicap sticker, as I had to hold on to something when I first stood up as I could hardly walk the pain was so bad. After months of exercise, $500.00 for insoles and the 1080y11 shoe the DR. recommended, I could finally walk better. Since they discontinued that style, I have bought 3 different New Balance, sketchers and Brooks Ghost only to give everyone of them away as I could not wear them. I took a chance on this style of shoe, being that I could return them if they didn't work, and my prayers were answered. They are even more comfortable than the 1080y11 that I wore. I have never had a pair of shoes this comfortable and I just ordered another pair and they are true to size. They are costly but well worth it, and I will continue to order this style, so please New Balance, Don't discontinue this shoe!! ... show more

  • Return policy for defective item
Size: 12 Wide Color: Pink Granite/Orb Pink/Limelight
Make sure to check their return policy and restocking fees. I purchased a pair of shoes that were defective. I own several pairs of the same shoe and the pair that I returned did not fit the same way. I did wear them outside because I didn’t feel the fit was going to be an issue. I received a partial refund for approximately half of what I paid and the other half they kept as a restocking fee due to wear. The only positive is they were responsive to my inquiries, but the outcome was a huge disappointment. ... show more

  • Awesome!
Size: 8.5 Color: Sea Salt/Coastal Blue/Gulf Red
I finally broke down and spent a little money on nice walking shoes and these are the absolute best. I’m so done you balance. It’s a perfect fit. I wear an eight in a regular shoe. I always go up half size for an athletic shoe. These are perfect, not too narrow, not too wide

  • Too bouncy, cushiony
Size: 9 Color: Black/White
In my opinion these shoes are too cushiony if that even makes sense. For me it is hard to hold my balance and if you’re like me I feel one might easily loose their footing in these. If you are worried about this, these are not for you. But for those that are maybe used to very bouncy shoes, they can be perfect. Just depends on preference. ... show more
