These shoes felt good right out of the box. No breaking needed. I work standing and walking, need extra cushioning. I did add a thicker insole than what comes with it. Also like the venting of this shoe bc my feet get very hot by evening if I wear a less breathable shoe upper. They are also very light even with the extra large sole. ... show more

The New Balance Fresh Foam V4 are very good for what they are made for which is super cushy, high stack, comfortable running shoes. Good for recovery runs or for longer slower efforts. You are not going to pick up the pace in these because putting any effort into high cush shoes just diminishes any energy return. It is good to have a set of these in the stable, but for me, they only will get used every once in a while. The foam cushioning is much softer on the V4 than the V1s. Well made, light for how much cushioning, fit is good on sizing. My only gripe is that the shoe is not quite neutral. It is slightly more for overpronators. It is not major or a deal breaker, but it is noticeable to me. It is much less overpronation biased that the Fresh Foam and More V1s. However personally, I still would like them to be very neutral given the tall stack height. ... show more

I ordered these shoes in my typical women’s size 9. That’s the size I take in Nike vapormax. The NB size 9 was too big so I got the men’s 7 since they were $ 60 cheaper than the women’s 8.5. At first, I didn’t like the feel of these shoes, I thot they made it harder when walking up hills due to the high platform. I kept wearing them because I didn’t feel like going thru another return process. These shoes are amazing! I’m older with arthritis, 2 total knee surgeries. I was able to walk at a fast pace for 5 miles in these. Now that’s something that I haven’t done In years. I have bunions however the stretch knit upper provided comfort while the springy soles propelled every step. You will not be disappointed in these shoes. ... show more

I actually fell in love with these. The max stack cushion of these make running miles and miles easy. I can run daily with these and not feel my legs get beat up or even sore the very next day. I just wish they made better colorways.
