Well made, fits and comfortable with no need to break in. Only downside is that it appeared to be an item used as laces on right was not correctly laced like the left shoe. I thus had to remove and lace it correctly.

In the past, I have had problems with the fit of soft shoes, especially in the toe area. These extra-wide shoes take care of my former problem. The fit was "comfy" right out of the box. A supportive, relaxing walking shoe.

The laces require a double knot, which is not a negative. Stiff when new and will rub on the top of the foot. Once you get the lace tension set, great walking shoe. Quality is top notch.

I have been a New Balance customer for 15 years. I normally order 1540's. Have 2 new pairs of those - one wide and one extra wide. Ordered the extra wide because a bunion just developed on my right foot. The 877's are a complete surprise. At the lower price point compared to the 1540's I didn't have high expectations. They feel fantastic for all-day around the house use. No pressure on my bunion, enough support in cushioning (also use insert). First day since bunions developed I had zero pain.
