I purchased this hood for use while surfing and diving (spearfishing). I wore it while surfing this past thanksgiving (2019) with my 3-2 spring wetsuit. It is sufficient when it comes to keeping your head warm and the material seems to be good quality. It fits well too. Unfortunately, I had to cut my surf session short because the hood began to painfully chafe my neck immediately. Within the hour, it was too painful to continue. The way the hood is designed, it doesn't taper properly from the chin to the neck. Even though the hood is tight, the material and poorly designed chin area allow it to move extensively. Typical hoods often have rubber areas which keep the hood from slipping, but this hood does not. Doing any activities that require movement will result in chafing. I would advise strongly against buying this hood. Dish out the extra money for a higher quality hood from Billabong or another notable seller and you won't be sorry. Even better, invest in a wetsuit with a built in hood if you can... ... show more

The hood itself seems to be good quality however the sizing chart runs small. I ordered an XL and technically it fit on the top of my head but it put a major squeeze on my face and my throat so I'm returning that one and getting a 2X.

I got this for freediving in a lake in the fall and winter. For only 3mm, it really helped, even in the winter (I'll be buying a 5mm though, for the really cold days!). I may look at getting the version that has the larger shroud, as the bottom tended to roll up a bit, but the hood kept my head warm while others were shivering. It's not overly tight around the chin, which was nice, it was just right to stay on with feeling like it was crushing. ... show more

I had training dives all weekend at the blue hole in Santa Rosa. The water temperature is a year round 61 and I already wasn’t looking forward to colder water dives. I definitely prefer tropical waters. The dive shop I did the training with provided a 7mm wetsuit but I am glad that I bought this before I went. I used a hot nail to add holes at the top of the hood to vent air and by the ears to help with pressure, but like most hoods you still need to let water into the hood to equalize. I may never use the hood again, but for the 9 dives I used it, it more than payed for itself. ... show more

Did not fit, but chose the correct size based on chart availability and customer reviews. ZCCO 5MM Diving Hood Size Chart is for generalized use and I would suggest going 1 size up to avoid facial or head discomfort (squeezing hair on the scalp, neck, & chin).

Good hood for what I call "cold water" in FL. (high 60's / low 70's) it's inexpensive enough that I had no worries about modifying it (I cut quarter size holes at the ears-Makes a huge difference in comfort-, and opened the face opening-also makes it comfortable, & doesn't interfere with the mask. I don't care to wear hoods, but after some mods, was very comfortable. No need to buy an expensive name brand, or heavier thickness unless you'll be in water below low 60's. I usually wear a beanie/cap between 75 & 80 That's my opinion anyway. ... show more

Love this cap! It is very comfortable, high quality, and it does what it is supposed to. I used it in cold water (~52F), and it did a great job at keeping my head warm. No issues pulling it on or off (I have long hair). I had to cut the front part for it to fit my face though. Recently scuba certified went to a spot in Florida called "Devils Den" where the water is a brisk 72° all year around. A friend recommended that I use his hood and I must say it made all the difference. My head was warm which kept my body temperature in a good place.
