I bought this to melt aluminum cans. Assembly was easy. All the parts were in the box and they all work together well. They suggest you use the provided, heavy duty gloves when lighting the fire, but they're too thick to use with a fireplace starter, so I used my bare hand and ended up singeing the hair on my hand. Oh well. Subsequent re-lights were automatic because when I'd restart the gas flow, the crucible was so hot the fire re-lit immediately. The two sets of tongs to lift the crucible, and to hold the crucible while pouring work well. The crucible size is okay, but makes melting a large amount of cans, tedious. Initially, I can only put in four flattened cans... then 3... then two.. then one, as it fills up. So it's going to take me a long time to melt 3 years worth of cans (but that's my problem, not the furnace's). I've only done one melting session and I have to get better technique because there was a bunch of aluminum in the slag when I removed it. It comes with one small mold so I used an old muffin tin (sitting in a tray of water) and that worked fine. Overall, it works and I like it.

I open the box a couple of days ago to check out everything and the smelter was broke Im not sure what happen cause it was sticking through the foam and the box. Please I really need another smelter cause I can’t afford another machine… Please if a smelter can be sent by itself that would be awesome…..

This is perfect little furnace to start out with. Melts gold silver aluminum without a problem. If your going to try copper I suggest you hook up some form of blower. This will not get hot enough to melt copper without it. All I did was a hair dryer blowing in the inlet by the propane nozzle.

Everything was easy to setup and get going. First run through I pulled my crucible out and it appears to have a crack that doesn’t go all the way through but you can clearly see molten medal through the crack. I know they get damaged over time but this was my first run. Nothing was dropped on my end. So idk how long it will last. Hopefully I can get with the seller and get a replacement crucible because the rest of the unit seems great.
