πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Overall, reviewers found the batteries and charger to be a fair value for the price. The batteries were found to hold a good charge and were seen as a cost-effective alternative to OEM Sony batteries. The charger was praised for its capacity to charge two batteries at once, again, being valued for its practicality while on the move. However, some users found the batteries to lose charge with continued use, and one user reported a potential fire hazard related to the charger.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Fair value for the price
  • πŸ‘ Batteries hold decent charge initially
  • πŸ‘ Charger can handle two batteries simultaneously

Cons

  • πŸ‘Ž Some users found batteries to lose charge over time
  • πŸ‘Ž One user reported a potential fire hazard related to the charger
  • πŸ‘Ž Charger uses micro USB instead of more modern USB-C

Should I Buy It?

Given the mixed reviews, your decision to buy may depend on how much you value cost over longevity. While some users reported issues with the batteries losing charge over time and a potential hazard with the charger, others found them to offer good value for the price and enjoyed the charger's ability to handle two batteries at once. Therefore, if you are a frequent shooter or are travelling and need a cost-effective option, these could be a good fit, keeping in mind some of the aforementioned concerns.

  • Charger is a fire hazard, started SMOKING and MELTING during 2nd use! Good batteries for the price.
The bad: The charger is a fire hazard and it actually started SMOKING and MELTING during my 2nd use! I had it plugged into my car's USB charging ports and luckily it was standing straight up in my cup holder or it likely would have damaged part of my car's interior. The first time I used it, it malfunctioned. It has been fine during the few other times that I've used it, but I always keep this standing straight up with the melted part away from anything else, and I never leave it unattended. This happened in the middle of all that 2020 craziness so I completely forgot about getting a refund or exchanging it. The batteries do self discharge faster than the OEM product, but not as badly as other third party batteries I have heard of. I haven't been keeping careful track, but these seem to self-discharge roughly 25% each month. The good: When freshly charged, the batteries hold a good charge during use, comparable to the OEM Sony battery. The battery charger conveniently charges two batteries at once using a standard mini USB, which is great if you are shooting a lot / traveling and need to recharge quickly. ... show more

  • So far they work great in my A6000 camera.
The Sony batteries are like 80 dollars so i took a chance with these and I don't regret it. I don't feel like they last as long as the Sony branded but for the money and you get 2 so it's fine. I love the charger as it can work at home or in the car while driving to photo location.

  • Not so happy
After I used them 3 or 4 times use, they don’t hold a charge. My older batteries, work better.

  • Great, but missing a few features
Great travel charger with a few features I hope to see in the future. It's nice and portable. It has great battery life. I would like to see a screen on this as many other chargers do have one already. I would also like to see USB C. I can't figure out why companies still use micro USB. We need to see more USB C products out there! ... show more

  • Lasts longer than even the Sony NP_FW50!
I was skeptical as I have tried several brands to power my Sony a7. So I did a comparison test when I bought these. The Neewer pair gave me 91 & 93 Minutes of Video. Wasabi Power duo was close at 82 and 83 minutes. DSTE provided 68 & 77 min. RavPower came in last at only 61 & 69 minutes. My more costly Sony batteries were in the middle of the pack, giving me 75 & 77minutes. (The setup was the same for each test.) I think Neewer found the sweet spot (for the a7 camera at least) with 7.4V, 1100mAh, and 8.1Wh. Neewer was definitely the winner. The problem is that, except for Sony, none of these brands sell batteries without a charger. $$$ Please post your own results when you can. ... show more

  • Better than original A6400 battery
I'm surprised how well these batteries work considering the price. I have only been using for a couple months, but it works great in my camera. Hopefully they last.

  • Neewer Customer Service is excellent.
UPDATE: Neewer customer service was excellent and sent a replacement battery. This battery is fully functional. Updating my review back up to 5 stars due to Neewer's responsiveness and customer service, which can be hit or miss with overseas brands. I have no problem recommending Neewer as a responsible brand. --- Original Review --- Ok, first the Pros: Small form factor Charges batteries reasonably quickly - including the standard Sony brand batteries. Easy USB-C connector. Cons: One of the two batteries was completely faulty and would not take a charge, right out of the box. I've reached out to Neewer Customer Service and will update this review based upon the results of the resolution of the issue. ... show more

However the Neewer batteries it came with didn't even hold a charge. I contacted customer service and they got back to me saying they will be sending me new batteries.
