As small as this is, I don't think it is designed to support a DSLR weighing multiple pounds. But... it holds my iPhone, Tripod adapter, and the Neewer 7 Inch Adjustable Friction Power Articulating Magic Arm for DSLR Camera Rig, just fine. It seems very well made. I could only wish for the tightening mechanism to have a larger grip for getting more torque. But that's hardly a criticism for something in this price range.     • Perfect for small/medium sized field monitors
I was hesitant to buy this at first but I must say I was surprised by the quality of this Ball Head. It is all metal except for the knob and seems to be very well made. It's definitely better than what originally came with my monitor. This probably won't hold a heavy load like a DSLR, so don't buy it for that purpose. Get the heavy-duty Manfrotto for that. ... show more

When I purchased this type item that came with the Crane 2 gimbal ( china ) the cheap metal alloys wore out after loosening and tightening. This adapter even feels stronger when tightening. No more slipping of a 4k monitor during a shoot ( embarrassing ). Great product and the workmanship and raw materials really hold up to the field work we put it through 6 days a week! ... show more

    • Full metal jacket
Nice and sturdy full metal jacket construction, you will have to crank down on the locking knob to prevent drift but there again if you're only using a (relatively) small (say Neewer 160) LED lamp or seven inch monitor you should be ok. The monitor will drift if bumped however. Not so fast there bubby. So I tried mounting a 7" LCD monitor to this thing and noticed it kept sliding out of position. Huh. Maybe I didn't tighten it down all the way. Cranked the knob. Still sliding. Grabbed my other one (I bought two of these) mounted the monitor and it held. Hmmm. Took both units apart, swapped parts. One body was not as well made as the other, very slight but significant difference where the ball meets the top of the body, the one that does not lock very well has less of a lip. Obviously quality control is not stellar, there again what do you expect when you buy cheap? Get two hope that one works real well either return the one that does not or just use it for non critical usage. ... show more

Just bought this along with the Neewer 75"/6 feet tripod and ring light - together they all really work so well. I find that it is super simple and easy to use / install. It is very secure and stays in place, but also is easy to screw / unscrew the various hinges. For such a small device, it really is very durable and keeps my heavy DSLR camera in place. The only con was that it took an extra week to arrive than the other Neewer products that I brought at the same time. Overall, super happy with this purchase! :) ... show more

I bought this for my Canon G7X Mark II and it works wonderfully! I didnt want to buy an extra tripod to shoot my videos and since I have the Neewer Ring Light, I decided to buy this instead! Loved it, I would recommend it! Its easy to mount and adjust! Wouldnt recommend for a big camera if it weights alot but its perfect for a vlogging camera since its lightweight! ... show more

The product itself is not the greatest hot shoe since several times it fails to hold my H4N recorder in place. I always have to keep making adjustment since it doesn't stay in place where I want it. It's a cheap mini ball head hot shoe compare to other mini ball heads hot shoes you see that cost a lot more but there's reason why !!! I would say go ahead a spend a little but more money and get something decent but if your tight with money than this cheap investment is worth it for the time being. ... show more

Seriously, this spherical hot shoe should be included in the ring light suit! That should be a perfect shopping experience. Without this spherical hot shoe, everything doesn't work properly when you want to shoot something... I still love my O light, because at least I can spend a little money to find a perfect hot shoe that matches the light and the phone/camera. Comes with a lock, it's very stable, so you don't have to worry about the safety of your phone or camera. If you already have a Neewer ring light, this is a must buy! ... show more
