It came out of the box ready to use with just a little bit of assembly which wasn’t even bad. I didn’t even need the instructions. If you expect to just put it together and go, we'll you can't. Had to spend a few hours on YouTube and tinkering and adjusting, smoothing cussing swearing. Once all that was done it works.

It is a great machine. When it works. I say that because there is a lot of fine tuning this machine needs to do what I need it to do. I stitch 5 oz veg tan together with it. Sometimes if it is not perfectly tuned it can break thread and needles. I am still learning it but for the price it is doable. I ordered this same machine from 2 other sellers and had to send both back because they were either b-stock or someone else’s return. It seems that all of these come with a partially sewn piece of leather stuck under the foot and thread already threaded through the machine. The other ones both showed up partially painted with a bunch of pitted steel but this one is full painted, solid and with more accessories than the other ones. If you’re a tinkerer, getting this thing going isn’t too hard, I had it stitching stuff in like 5 min. The biggest benefit of this machine for me is that it can stitch through foam sheets whereas my regular sewing machine cannot. ... show more

    • It's worth the money!
I was hesitant to purchase this product because of the negative reviews. I needed a heavy duty Sewing machine for the type of work that I do. The package arrived in a couple days. There was no rust on the unit and the body of the unit had a good and complete paint job with no blemishes. It was oily which was not a problem. There are several moving parts that need oil especially the bearings. This is an Manual cam driven machine. The only drawback is the three legged stand. Most likely I will replace the stand with a sturdier and heavier handmade unit. I have no regrets purchasing this product. It will serve me well for years to come. Rick ... show more

    • There is a lot of YouTube videos on this item to improve it.
It was frustrating at first but after doing research I finally got it working good. The base is not vary stable but you can make a good wood base for it. I think for the price it is a good value. There are videos that can show you how to cheaply convert it to a powered machine.
