  • Sharp edges abound
HAS SHARP EDGES!!! WONT BE LEGAL FOR A LOT OF LARPS AND REENACTMENTS WITHOUT FIXING THOSE!!!! Covered in oil, which is pretty standard. Ok price if you know how to put a little work in on it, otherwise go with something else. Ill explain what I've had to do to it. Dremeled out the old rivets holding the straps, cleaned away the -significant- amounts of oil. Sanded and polished the front and back of all peices, repainted the backplates and clearcoat laquered the fronts to prevent rust. Replaced the old rivets with chicago screws to make future strap replacement easier. Conditioned the straps, which were dry. Drilled holes for rivets along the sharp edges and wraped edges in thick leather and riveted it down with chigago screws. Honestly there are two many unacceptably sharp edges that could have been taken care of during the manufacture process. It aesthetically nice, but be prepared to put a lot of work in, even if its just to remove all the oil ... show more

  • As well constructed as can be expected for the price
This armor is far from perfect, but clocking in at half the price of comparable pieces that's as you would expect. Some minor reworking and replacements will be necessary over time, but a person competent in basic tools will be able to make all the needed changes. Immediately on buying the armor you should sand or dremel the rivets on the inside of the piece to ensure that there are no sharp edges, and sand the unrolled edges to make sure there are no burrs. The leather is relatively cheap and lightweight, and will probably need to be replaced down the line. That said, this is all relatively quickly done, and is more than a fair tradeoff at the price. ... show more

  • Incredibly good buy for this armor
I use this armor for 17th century historical reenactment purposes and it passes the test for composition and style from those whose OK I need to wear it. It is lighter than another specific set I have, and comes "blackened" already, so that is another plus. The tassets are reticulated, rather than a single piece, which is really nice, and they can be bent a little to give them a more rolled look, typical of the 1610s. I have not yet had the problem with the leather described in the other review, but I will say that it is not like in the picture, hence only 4 stars. One issue is that the tassets fasten the wrong way, but again, that has not stopped me from being able to wear it. For the price, this is a really good set that has held up for almost a year now. ... show more

  • Straps are made out of the cheapest leather.
It fits me well and I'm able to move around in it. However, the leather straps are complete and utter shit (forgive my language). One of them snapped after using the armor only 3 times. And the leather straps never once got wet. I would've given this 3 stars but this is the first plate armor to actually fit my skinny body without padding (im 5'5 and fit into medium). If the leather straps weren't such crap, I would have given this 5 stars. ... show more

  • DIY Peascod kit
So I got this hoping that I'd be able to wear this for reenactments in the near future. When I got this, I saw the leather straps for the front thigh protectors were a bit uneven. I shrugged it off and did a quick readjustment and it was alright. When I put it on I found that there were no side enclosures like in the pictures so I can't even secure it to my body...I told myself that I could make the straps and attach it myself. As I was fitting it to my body one of the edges that was not rolled over sliced my thumb open. At this point I took it off to find the rivets on the inside were unfinished or just poorly set and had ripped my shirt. If you get this be prepared to do a lot of work on it. ... show more
