The first ingredient is lamb, and the second ingredient is chicken. That may be great for many dogs, but I was looking for a lamb based option because the veterinarian suggested that my dog may have a chicken allergy. Apparently many dogs have some level of allergy with chicken. So, I just wanted to point that out for anyone that may be looking at this food as a chicken alternative. I have been giving small dog food to my dogs. Hope this isn't the kind that is large size or I may have to buy small dog brand for the smaller one. I don't think the Shiba Inu will have any problem. My dogs stomachs are more settled with this food than other kinds.

This is one of the few foods my 15yr Heeler mix really LOVES. She has been eating it for a few weeks now and is very happy with it. I have three dogs who I try to keep healthy through diet and supplements and they are 15+, 11+ and our new kid 2 yrs. It isn't easy with all the unhealthy kibbles out there. I wish I could do more raw feedings but it is very expensive so I have to do a mix with dry kibble as the base. Nature's recipe for my oldest seems to be working just fine for her since she is VERY picky in her old age. The only complaint I have is the canola oil in it. It doesn't look like a big component on the ingredient list but I wish they would use something else. Canola oil is not good for us either. The price is very good as well. ... show more

Like all dry foods it contains “ natural flavors” which are chemicals like what they are putting in your food and salt. All dry dog foods now have salt and people wonder whats happening to their dogs. If you look it up in internet they are all within 2 years saying salt is ok, its not!!!!!!
