These help with removing water and moisture from the air. They are easy to use and the size of them help to put them in a corner of a room. I live along the CA coast and we have a lot of moisture. I removed the foil cover and put these into the back of the closets. Like magic, no mold in the closets. The beads collected the moisture and dissolved in about 3 months. I didn’t understand the purpose of the white paper film until I went to remove and replace the containers and found one of them tipped over on its side, yet NONE of the liquid spilled out, thankfully. The white film allows moisture to flow into the container but not back out. A huge win for me!!!! Our house is EXTREMELY humid this summer after putting on a new roof. It's insane. Dehumidifier stopped working, so waiting on one to arrive, but won't get here for a week. Before we realized the dehumidifier in the basement wasn't working properly, we bought these to help with the humidity upstairs. The hygrometer said it was 84% humidity up here (so so gross, and carpet is damp so needing another dehumidifier asap, but won't arrive for 5 more days ugh), anyway, with all this humidity you'd think that these things would be working, but nothing has happened at all, and we've had them now for exactly 10 days. As soon as they arrived, I pulled the foil off, and put the lid back on. Really not sure what the purpose of the basket woven type lid is. Regardless, they have done nothing. No liquid is in any of them at all. I think they have helped with any odor, but other than that, there isn't even one drop of moisture in these after a week and a half. Seemed like a good idea to add the charcoal, but we have used a large bucket of regular Damp Rid in the basement before, and it gathered moisture quite quickly. Not sure why these don't. If you want them for odor control, go for it. If you want them for moisture control, I don't think these work for that. Giving it 3 stars for the odor control, and 0 stars for moisture. ... show more
