This is a pretty cute little craft set that my 7 year old really enjoyed doing with a little bit of supervision. Obviously you're not going to get final characters that really look like they do on the box but my daughter had a good time doing these. The set comes with insructions which include how to do some of the characters which is quite nice. Most are made with a combination of paint and decals which are very easy to attach. Paint is ok and comes with enough primary colors to make any desired color. My one issue is that I wish the rocks it came with were a bit flatter and a bit larger. They certainly worked fine but that would of really made everything a lot better. Overall a fun rainy day project. ... show more

This is a solid kit, which is no surprise coming from National Geographic. The paints are nice, it has googly eyes, it's got decals (can also be used as temporary tattoos for people), and in particular it has a really nice painting guide. Your (kids') results, obviously, will depend somewhat on artistic ability. I couldn't quite bring myself to give it 5 stars, just because the rocks themselves, in the kit we got at least, were a little lackluster. We've gotten kits before with better shaped rocks, and one that had nice white rocks which probably spoiled us a little but. I'm sure rock quality varies, and I'm probably being a little picky there anyway -- with enough creativity and layers of paint, the rocks we got would be perfectly serviceable. For the artistically-minded, this is every bit as high quality of a kit as you'd expect. And if you have a ready supply of rocks to supplement the ones they provide, even better (though not necessary). ... show more

Good for kids or adults and is a great alternative activity for younger kids that can't use knives or just for people who prefer painting/drawing instead of carving. This kit is so cute for Halloween. Comes with all the paint and accessories you need to make Halloween rocks. Rocks are a great size and smooth. Makes them easy to paint. Has instructions for kids on how to paint each one for the different Halloween characters.
