Description

The JETFIRE™ Chimney Starter is a quick, safe and efficient way to start charcoal for your charcoal barbecue grills. For outdoor use only, this charcoal starter uses a chimney effect that concentrates heat to light the charcoal. Made from aluminized steel with a cool-touch handle (although, grill gloves are recommended when hot) for long-lasting use. Have charcoal hot and ready to use in minutes, the JETFIRE™ Chimney Starter holds enough charcoal to fill most charcoal barbecue grills. To use, fill the underside of the JETFIRE™ Chimney Starter with loosely crumpled newspaper or paper towel. Turn the JETFIRE™ Chimney Starter over and fill the main chamber with as much charcoal as needed for your cook - a few large chunks of hardwood lump charcoal for smoking, up to a full load for some high heat searing. Once filled, light the paper on fire through the bottom vents of the starter. Allow the paper to burn off, which ignites the bottom coals. The heat from the bottom coals rises igniting the rest. Using heat-resistant gloves, lift the JETFIRE™ Chimney Starter by the handle and pour the lit charcoal into your barbecue grill. It does collapse, with a screwdriver. Also its huge. Looks sturdy, but i did not actually start any charcoal in it. I did cut myself on the clips that hold the grate in place while outting it together. So, if you want something that is flat when you take it apart (with a screwdriver) or holds an entire small bag of charcoal, this is your thing. If you want a less expensive version of the camp maid collapsible chimney that fits inside a 12” dutch oven, this is NOT your thing. ... show more

    • Strudy but not collapsible and capacity is limited.
Quality and sturdy materials were used. The edges are a little sharp but not too bad. It comes flat and you assemble it by sliding the long hinge pins in. You could take those back out but it would be tedious and easy to loose track of pieces. The capacity is not as big as other collapsible models.

This is a very well made product. I didn't like it because it requires modest assembly for use IF YOU NEED IT TO FOLD FLAT. FOR ME...id probably misplace some of the key parts...although they are few.

I ordered this chimney to keep in my travel trailer due to the fact it said it is collapsible. While it is technically able to collapse it requires a screw driver to remove or install the to rods that connect the third side of the triangle. I would think it should be described as “disassemible” rather than collapsible. ... show more

This tank of a charcoal starter does its job, but it’s so damned big and heavy, that it’s hard to control the pour of hot coals. On the plus side, it’s well constructed and keeps heat away from your hands. Your call.

    • Not as collapsible as I was expecting but still stars charcoal just fine
It does the job it's supposed to do. It seems to hold enough charcoal. However, it's not as collapsible as I was expecting. To collapse it, you will need a phillips screwdriver and to unscrew the one of the corners.

Have not used yet, still too warm for camping here in Florida, but looks to be of good quality and manufacture. Very sturdy, feels solid and good design. Do not expect to have any problems.
