Once gotten together, this is a good strong cutter for a low price. It's best for cutting plastic, not wood. I am giving five stars despite the assembly requiring some effort, because there are complaints about building competitive products too. Perhaps my suggestions below will make it go easier. Assembly was a bit of a project. Unlike some competitors, this one comes with a nice clear instruction booklet, with pictures and written in good English. My gripe is with one step, where one is supposed to screw machine screws down into a slot in the plastic end piece to hold the platform down on it. Slots not holes are provided to adjust for exactly how long the tool ends up being, and the slots are narrower than the screws, and the provided machine screws are flat on the end and have no self-tapping feature. I substituted longer wood screws and predrilled holes beyond the end of the slots, and they went right in with my cordless drill. You'll need some tools to assemble this. A long phillips is helpful to put in the screws at the end of the platform near the cutter. A proper allen driver, perhaps a drill bit, is helpful. I don't know why they include the usual L-shaped allen key because it's not the only tool you would need anyway. I threw it in my collection of useless L-shaped allen keys, and maybe I'll donate them or make a sculpture with them someday. If you have the other things I discussed, you'll certainly have some allen bits and won't want to use the L-shaped one provided. There's a seam across the platform, which results from their shipping in a smaller box. There's a very nice pair of chromed hinges on the underside of that platform that you'll use exactly once to open it up, and once the assembly is done you will never close those hinges again. There are several compromises and extra construction steps as a result of their using a smaller box, but maybe that allowed a much lower price. ... show more
