From a performance perspective, this shackle works as expected. I used it once for a recovery and it held up great. The locking pin is secured by a snap ring so if you don't have a snap ring tool you're going to have to get creative in removing it and putting it back when you install it on your winch line. I ended up using some needle nose pliers and a screwdriver, but beware if using this because it can be difficult to get the ring back in. I can't recall when it actually happened, but this shackle will discolor. The black will end up fading to a bronze color. No big deal to me since I actually like the bronze, but if you're expecting to stay black it most likely will not remain that way. ... show more

    • Great value, rubber pads not adhered at all. Nice part though.

Typical Chinese knockoff. It always irks me how they will do what appears to be a reasonable duplicate of a part, but they take no pride to address issues on their first attempt that are noted by many. The part in general is a very nice piece. Looks and functions well. I used 3M super weatherstrip adhesive to bond the 4 rubber pieces to the aluminum body. The manufacturer made no attempt to bond the rubber. Each rubber piece has two pegs that go into holes, but they will fall out easily. Also, in the mold that produces the rubber pads, the pegs are not symmetrical. They are offset a little bit. The same rubber pad is used in all 4 positions on the part. Because the pegs are slightly shifted to one side, one pad will be shifted inboard on the part, while the other will be shifted outboard and slightly hang off the part. Just looks kinda goofy but does not really affect function. It could easily be trimmed with a razor blade so as not to hang off if one desires. Most American companies would address these issues just to make it right, but the Chinese companies making these knockoffs just keep pumping out the same defects as long as the parts are selling. Would I buy again? Absolutely. The Factor 55 part is 3 times the price for the same function. I paid about $50 for this flatline shackle winch cable mount. If the real part was, say, $75, I would gladly pay it, but three times the price is way too high. ... show more

My comment is about the color, It's not red. When I bought it to use with my Warn winch, my expectation was it'd be a matching red with the winch decal. It's more of a purple or magenta shade, so calling it red is a stretch. Lately it looks like it fading, so even further from matching.

This winch shackle mount is obvious Factor 55 copycat, but what it lacks in originality, it does plenty in robustness. This is one heavy solid piece of powder coated aluminum shackle. It seats snug with the winch and like any similar shackles has a lock ring that keeps pin in place. You need snap ring pliers to remove the ring and release pin. If I would mention one drawback, it’s rather small shackle connector. It works with regular metal shackles, but is a too tight for soft shackles.
