The vise can be rotated up to 360-Degree on its base for work positioning. It’s widely suitable for general purpose and light work. The vise is manufactured from cast iron featuring steel vise jaws, threaded spindle assembly and a chrome lockdown. The jaw of the bench clamp is made of quenching and re-fires technology, which increases the hardness and toughness of the jaw and makes it durable.. Tip: Add some oil to the screw before use to ensure that the movement of the jaws is more flexible and stable. This vise does everything that I wanted. The rotation feature is much more useful than I had anticipated. Rotation is smooth and the lock is secure. I haven't yet found a need for the small, flat anvil surface on the moveable jaw yet though. The plastic pads for the jaw surfaces are essential if you are doing fine work like jewelry or building models. Those pads don't fit tight, but they are OK and functional. The big D-shaped pad for the bottom of the cast jaws portion won't hold without adhesive. I secured it using double-stick Scotch tape. The circular pad for the screw at the bottom does snap on and stay by itself. If you appreciate well made tools, you will understand what I mean by cute. The cast metal portions are finished well, with no sharp edges on the outside (inside the jaw area where you shouldn't put your fingers does have some sharp edges). Handles and jaw screw are well-finished. Amazon didn't pack it well for shipping. The vise comes in a small cardboard box with no support material inside. Amazon just put that box in a plastic envelope and tossed it onto the concrete some distance from my front door. The vise had slipped through the bottom of its box, but was not damaged. Maybe if you specify that it is a gift Amazon will put it in an outer box. ... show more

If you aren't using this daily and need it a few times a year as I do then buy it. When I hand tighten it down I hit it with a rubber mallet to keep it in place. ( the pins) and it holds still. I built an AR with it no problem.

I grabbed this to mount on the back of my flat bed truck when I need to file a chainsaw. I knew it was light duty by looking at the photos and the price. I just need something I can toss in the toolbox and bring out when I need to file a saw. I grabbed a return for 20 bucks! It arrived with nothing wrong with it. I tried it out once and it held my 395XP with a 36" bar & chain with no problem. After sharpening the saw, I tossed it back in the toolbox. If this holds up, then it was money well spent. I suppose you could saw, I got a return on my money already, and just the one sharpening for the job I did payed for itself. I was alone and no way could I hold the saw and sharpen it on my own. With that said, it's still exactly what it looks like it is. Don't expect to be able to screw it down super tight and start smacking something in a vice. This is not a "real vice" this is just something to hold something still for you, like a chainsaw bar so you can sharpen the chain for hold a piece of wood so you can clue it together or something like this. If you need a "real vice" this ain't it! If you thought it would be for 20 - 30 bucks, then you're probably a young buck and don't have things figured out just yet lol. A "real vice" for the shop is going to set you back much more than this, OR you might find one at a yard sale or flea market for such prices too. Though those are going to be much heavier an might not want to haul around in a truck all the time, but more for a work bench at home. This is a light duty little holding device, for simple, basic tasks where not much "real man power" for heavy duty, real man jobs need to be done, but light duty, extra hand that a lady could provide you with. For 20 bucks, it is what I expected it to be. If it breaks soon though, just holding a bar for my chainsaw, I'll report back when it fails. Until then, assume it's still holding my chainsaws while I file them. I rated the device for price point. I'll knock stars off, based on how long it lasts. If it lasts as least 6 months for commercial use in my tree service though, I can't knock that. I'd just shell out a few more bucks for a more rugged one. I wanted to try a light duty one first, to see if it's all that's needed for chainsaw sharpening. I suspect it will be. Until you see an update, I've been right. ... show more

BOTH THE SELLER AND PRODUCT ARE FINE. LOVE THE VICE, HOWEVER, IF, AND I SAY IF THIS WAS SHIPPED BY AMAZON AND NOT THE SELLER, THEN AMAZON PACKS IT LIKE GARBAGE WITH VIRTUALLY NO PROTECTION. Because of the poor packing, the weight of the vise broke through and wrecked the product box but luckily the vise ended up unscathed while surviving the shipping travels. Both the swivel and lockdown clamps also leave a LOT to be desired. Regardless of how much it is tightened, virtually any kind of normal force will move and turn the vise because neither the swivel or lockdown bases have no teeth in them do so. It is a good vice for very light duty however, but no more. So once again, the merchant and product are fine to the degrees mentioned, but whoever is responsible for the packing, whether it be the merchant or amazon, they miserably failed in that department. ... show more

I was going to give this one star but after re-reading the description, I am putting some of the blame on myself. The key word in the description is "LIGHT" work. If you need a device to just hold something while you paint it or glue it, this will work fine. But if you need a real vice, for a job in which you will need to exert any type of pressure and expect this vice to hold it.. you need to look elsewhere. This "vice" just doesn't have the strength. The big weakness is the 360 rotation part. Exerting any type of force against this will cause it to slip and there is no stop. It will just keep on slipping. So if you are a real man who does real work, skip this item. If you are just a hobbyist looking for a clamp to hold stuff for you while you do delicate work, this will probably work fine. FYI.. it comes with a pair of white women's gloves.. why? I have no idea. ... show more

Easy to use, though the nut at the bottom needs to be loosened a bit to allow you to use the swivel feature. So far I have not run into any real issues with this vise.
