Purchased this vise to have something to slip on to my portable workbench when needed. I was taking on a project to re-grip my golf clubs, and that was the final straw to make this purchase, as I'd had other times where it would've been helpful to have a small vise around. This worked great to hold my clubs (with the use of a shaft clamp so I didn't damage them) while I cut and pulled and pushed to get old grips off and new ones on. Exactly what I needed, and it is small enough for me to take off of my portable workbench and put away, and simple enough to pull out and mount. It was solid the whole way. The only nitpicks were that the little protective sleeves that were provided to sit on the vise arms didn't fit too solidly/neatly.. they were prone to slide off more than I would've wanted, but it was not a huge deal.. also the locking mechanism that locked the vise from rotating wasn't always super secure, but I had to pull/push pretty hard to cause it to rotate un-necessarily. Overall very very happy with this purchase. I got through my club re-gripping thanks to this, and I know I will have plenty of future use for it. ... show more

This vise does everything that I wanted. The rotation feature is much more useful than I had anticipated. Rotation is smooth and the lock is secure. I haven't yet found a need for the small, flat anvil surface on the moveable jaw yet though. The plastic pads for the jaw surfaces are essential if you are doing fine work like jewelry or building models. Those pads don't fit tight, but they are OK and functional. The big D-shaped pad for the bottom of the cast jaws portion won't hold without adhesive. I secured it using double-stick Scotch tape. The circular pad for the screw at the bottom does snap on and stay by itself. If you appreciate well made tools, you will understand what I mean by cute. The cast metal portions are finished well, with no sharp edges on the outside (inside the jaw area where you shouldn't put your fingers does have some sharp edges). Handles and jaw screw are well-finished. Amazon didn't pack it well for shipping. The vise comes in a small cardboard box with no support material inside. Amazon just put that box in a plastic envelope and tossed it onto the concrete some distance from my front door. The vise had slipped through the bottom of its box, but was not damaged. Maybe if you specify that it is a gift Amazon will put it in an outer box. ... show more

There's plenty of room underneath for securing the base to a table. The vice swivels 360 degrees, has rubber boots for the jaws as well as the base and there's a small flat surface for working metal. Al around this is a great product for the price.

This is a very sturdy and well made bench vice. It swivels, and is so versatile, we just love it! Also lvoe the fact that you can either make it permanent by screwing it down, or just use the clamp to attach it. Not terribly heavy duty. Seems kind of wobbly. The rubber vise guards fall off easily. The swivel doesn’t tighten down hard enough to keep from rotating while working on a piece. Just good enough for a “third hand” to hold pieces as I’m working on them. Going to buy a more heavy duty one for work involving more force. ... show more

Nice little vise that a little work to make it near perfect. The swivel feature will not hold. You need to take the swivel apart and sand the paint from the mating surfaces, do not polish. The swivel will hold now as it is designed. The paint is very good but shouldn't be on the friction surfaces.

It clamped to the table with no issues, and holds small items very securely. Yeah, grease the screw a little, to enhance the performance and make the unit last longer. But you cannot beat the value this vise provides.
