  • A welcome present!
Our nephew, a charming six year-old on the autism spectrum, loved this toy saxaphone and played it right away after unwrapping it on his birthday. Seems like a great place to start for a young musician!

  • Looks nice, intuitive, out of tune, feels cheap
Edit: the replacement sax is more in-tune with itself and was packaged better by Amazon - the instrument itself was still just there in its box, though, and was scratched. Pics are still relevant. The toy looks good, it has enough detail to be pleasing to behold, and is light and simple for a toddler to hold with two hands. Our toddler was happy instantly and now knows it is their sax. We got this because they enjoyed playing with our real sax and we wanted to bridge the gap with something like this. There are pros and cons. The instrument has eight keys and they can all be pushed together or separately to produce individual or composite notes. It sounds like a strange harmonica and is out of tune, and the top and bottom sets of keys, not really octaves, are out of tune compared to each other. However, it is not a deal breaker. It may be difficult for a smaller toddler to produce sound, but all that is needed is blowing air, like into a harmonica, and pressing at least one key down to actuate whatever device within. There are no electronic parts, this is purely acoustic and physical, which was very important to us when looking for a toy for our toddler. The simple and clear design, no annoying lights or buttons or otherwise disregard to authenticity, helps this be a good choice for a child who shows interest in musical instruments and saxophone especially. The plastic is thin and this is one solid chunk of it, the keys are obviously separate, held together somehow, probably with glue, if there are separate pieces to it. The mouthpiece is black, the paint is silver, the underlying plastic is black. The paint can, and will likely, flake. The packaging was horrible. Absolutely terrible. It was the instrument in the box, in the Amazon box - that is it. No bag, nothing around the sax, no foam, no film, no cardboard, nothing in its box. Box, air, box, air, sax. I'm not sure how this survived making it from Italy - as they say it is made there - without any interior packaging, or they're selling used toys as new from their distribution centers. I don't know how they can package it like this otherwise. It came scratched because of, likely, this. The instrument is lightweight, as mentioned, intuitive, sounds weird, will flake, feels a bit cheap, but there's nothing like it. The competition is electronic junk, and this actually lets a child push keys, blow, and have results. The price is a little high, for what you get and the lack of proper tuning and packaging, but it's good enough otherwise. Consider this over the electronic junk, but only if you're ready to curb your enthusiasm as an adult and indulge the toddler or children you would gift this to. ... show more

  • Buy it
The media could not be loaded. Perfect for a kids first saxophone. My nephew loves instruments and is obsessed. You have to push the buttons to hear sound. Also extremely durable since he purposely dropped it multiple times and it didn’t budge. No dent no scratch.

  • Saxophone
The short video that is shared for you to see the quality and realization of the product is not anything you actually receive! Its solid plastic wont last its not worth the sale price. I was looking for something realistic as far as the build and quality being that as of a real brass instrument and the video that was shared made it look that way but when I received it it was nothing like a real brass sax ... show more

  • Great Saxophone
My granddaughter wanted a saxophone like Papas. This was the only one we could find that really has working parts. She Hugged the box after unwrapping it. It sounds great and not too loud. We’ve had no complaints from mom & dad.

  • A little out of tune, but pretty good for a toy
The media could not be loaded. From the product description I couldn't really figure out how this was supposed to make noise. Turns out this is basically a harmonica shaped like a saxophone. You blow through the mouthpiece and the keys control which harmonica reed produces noise. So, you can actually play multiple notes at once which is cool (although not like a real sax haha!). The instrument sounds like a harmonica - which is close enough to a sax. Mine did come pretty out of tune, but I'm giving it to a three year old so I don't think he will care (his parents might). The keys have a snappy feel to them. It does take a bit of lung power to play, so I'm concerned the three-year old won't have the lung capacity to get it really going. Overall not bad for the price. I couldn't find any other saxophone toys that weren't battery operated, so this one is pretty cool in that it feels more like a real instrument. The look of it is nice and very cute. ... show more
