I’m in love. Gorgeous and rich colors.

New to the hobby and I am really loving these paints. I started with one of those watercolor workbooks that came with a little paint set, and I was a bit disappointed with how washed out the colors would dry. But then I switched to these paints and I’m amazed at how rich the colors are. Gorgeous. I’ve added a photo of a reference swatch I made with the color numbers. I’m still terrible at painting but having a wicked good time enjoying all the pretty colors. The price of $35 is perfect for the quality of this set so you can enjoy the hobby without breaking the bank. I don’t often give 5 stars, but these paints earned a 5. :)

A quality watercolor set for a great price

I Love this watercolor set. They activate very easily & blend beautifully. A good mix of Reds, Yellows & Blues. I believe there are many single pigments in the set which is really helpful when just starting out in watercolor & learning to mix your colors. I would recommend this set for everyone but really a great set for someone who wants to begin in watercolor.

Great paint

I've been using these and MeiLiang for all recent paintings. They are not professional grade but are more then adequate for most work: flow well lift well, highly pigmented-- a superior student grade. They don't have the pigment load of professional, but I mostly don't need or want pigment that dense, and it's easy enough to just add another layer when I want more intensity-- or temporarily swith to a paint with more pigment, but that's rarely needed. The pigmets are listed so I know what I'm using, and often have only 1 or 2 pigments in a color. They don't use the most expensive pigments and I would not expect them to, but the ones used are good quality. I definitely prefer these to Van Gogh, and they are priced much better. Good box and palette, and lyout. Hard to go wrong buying these.

Very nice starter set with some gorgeous colors but not a professional set

A very good starter watercolor Not a professional grade but I absolutely love this and enjoy working with this watercolor set. The price is reasonable if you are just starting.... my favorite colors are the greens and pinks But I do not like the burnt sienna ( row 3 number 12) to me it is dull! I do not like the permanent violet ( it is opaque and not transparent) First 4 colors on top left are not beautiful comparing to Gansai tambi or coliro I use this mungyo set a lot especially the french gray is one of my favorites for flowers ( I have attached a daffodil in progress for you to see the gray) Cause the price is very reasonable and quality is very good.... it definitely worths exploring, especially if you are a beginner like me and are learning and experimenting..... and you do not want to waste expensive materials. If you want a professional grade, this is not the professional set! I have added my mission gold color swatches as well ( compare them visually and you will notice the difference) . Also the gold colors from Gansai Tambi ( top 6).

For student quality paints, you get a lot of wonderful colors for a good price. They handle well. But Phoenix paints are close to the same cost, and have many more paints made with a single, quality, pigment. Many of these colors are 3 pigment mixes. Even ultramarine blue is not a true pigment, but a blend of cobalt and pthallo, so it does not behave in all the ways I rely on ultramarine to. Opera pink is pretty, but a known fugitive, and the pigment is in other colors too. The array of greens is great, although many are blends of other paints in the set. Convenient, if you use greens often. Very well packaged and very clearly labeled. If you care for the details of the pigments as I do, the information is well presented. This will be an enjoyable set to use.
