Been needing some kind of edging tool for my sidewalks and stoops, and saw this. Doesn't come with a handle (to save on shipping), but I have extra handles, so I gave it a chance. When I first unpacked it, I was a bit worried that it was too light duty, and that I would break it in the first day. The good side: I used it, pretty hard, and it works well enough as an edger, to cut weeds/grass growing over my brick stoop, my concrete sidewalk edge, etc.. It's versatile, and can be used as a vertical cutter, or more as a scraper, along the sidewalk. I also used it to scoop some clay topsoil and carry it (like a square spade), and it's passable at that task, but not very good. But, once i got the heavy clay soil in the hole I was filling in, the blade was very nice for chopping vertically, to dice the clay into lines and cubes, to make it spread easier. It's not terribly strong as a shovel, so I can't recommend that use. It's good as a scraper, and good as an edger/chopper, along sidewalks and such. The blade is sharp enough, and even though I scraped it a dozen times on rocks and concrete while I worked, it didn't nick or dull (much), so that was good. It actually worked better than I expected, and I didn't manage to break it like I thought I would. I downgraded a star, because it feels a bit lightweight, compared to some more solid steel edgers you can find, and it's made of multiple parts, each of which is a potential failure point (compared to a single cast piece). The handle connection is reinforced with two small metal bars at 45 degree angles, which is needed because you are tilting the unit right and left constantly. Without those supports, you will bend/snap the handle connection quickly. my biggest issue is the weld at those points... it's not great. It looks a bit rushed/missed, and I know that I will eventually break those right at that weak point. it might be a season, or a year, but that is the weak point, and in a higher quality piece, poor welds would have been detected, and corrected. Is it worth the price? Probably. But you could probably buy a cheaper one just as well built, or you could pay more, for a higher quality one that's built better, and will last multiple years. With care, I could see getting a couple seasons out of this, but those welds will snap before anything else goes wrong with the tool, and that's too bad. Otherwise, it was a decent tool. I don't regret getting it, I will get my money out of it, but it's too bad the welding wasn't caught, or better, because that would have been a 5 star review then. ... show more

First I would like to point out that this item just comes as the head! It does not have a handle or wooden pole that comes with it. I thought it would come as the picture showed, but when it showed up at my door it came in a small box with no wooden handle. This is an extremely durable cleaning shovel head! I would still recommend this but make sure you order a wooden stick to go along with it. ... show more

Semantics aside, this is a great scraper tool. Be aware that this does *not* include the pole. For me, I primarily got this for the scraping of ice of my driveway, deck, and sidewalks after ice storms around my mountain home, and for that purpose it excels. The blade is an alloy steel, but not necessarily stainless, so I make sure it is dry when I put it up for storage. Behind the blade near the handle there is a small lip or ledge that is 1-inch high, so ice or debris that is scraped-up does not easily fly off the back of the blade, which I appreciate. The pictures on the listing make it appear that the blade edge is beveled for an ideal scraping angle, but there was no such beveling on the blade I received. The welds and construction are a little rough with weld splatter on the handle and the paint job is uneven with paint slop and orange peel texture in various areas. Despite that minor issue, at just over twenty bucks for the size I ordered seems like a reasonable price to me as long as this lasts. ... show more
