I just received this from UPS, had to risk getting muddy after the rain just to see how this did driving 2x4s for my pig fence. All the boards so far have been set using an auger, but using the auger has given me problems out here, thus making me buy this. I set the board it is sitting on in the ground as far as I could with the auger, but used this driver to get it further in the ground, and it works well! I will be using just the driver now probably, it seems to work well and is quite well made. However, it is heavy too, but that is good so you don’t have to exert yourself as much when driving posts, just pick it up and let its weight do the work for you.

I used this tool to straighten and stiffen an existing fence that just needed some maintenance after 15 years. The 34lb version fits over an entire 4x4 and I actually needed to used it upside down for existing posts and gave about 8 good whacks on each. that sunk them about 1" and then I tamped the surrounding ground a bit. I actually pulled a 4x4, backfilled and tamped, drilled out a core with a flower bulb planter, and then drove the new post in using this tool. You can do it just like guys do with the gas versions, but this is $900 cheaper and I only needed to do two posts. You will be sore; it's a workout

I used this item to pound several 2-3/8 metal fence posts 3 feet into the ground. The 34 lbs of weight was perfect, and as someone else stated, you lift it and let gravity do the rest. It made my job easy and saved me lots of money, as I didn't have to rent a machine or hire a professional crew. I will be using this for many foreseeable projects soon.

Ir a Arizona we have a type of very hard ground called Colicchie. It’s extremely difficult to dig through. I needed to put up some handicapped parking signs and the sledgehammer was getting me nowhere. I spent over an hour hammering the post with the sledgehammer and it didn’t go down more than 1/2 inch. So I bought this. It took me about 15 seconds to drive the sign post in about a foot and a half. Amazing. As I said, this thing is a beast. Highly recommend.
