Description

Here's a great deal on a brand new 2-door 45LB popper kit. It's perfect for shaved handle applications, but also works fine even if you keep your existing handles intact. Each remote fob will control both doors independently - press the button on the left side of the remote to pop the driver's door, or press the button on the right side of the remote to pop the passenger's door. There's even a 3rd channel output available. It's programmable for momentary, timed, latched or 'duration of transmit' operation, so there's lots of things you can do with it - operate a remote control trunk pop, motorized hood, tonneau cover, power windows, amp rack....and those ideas are just a sample.

Very cool controller. Instructions aren't as precise as they could be, but that's the way things are these days, it seems. Installs and works as advertised and described. UPDATE: Well, the system worked fine until I installed the door gaskets on my '49 Ford Coupe with Bear Claw door latches. As it turns out, and after LOTS of analysis, here are the problems: Bear Claw latches, when under very little pressure, take a LOT of force to unlatch them. I checked the voltage at the solenoid when energized and only had 8.5 volts. The wiring size as shipped with this kit is not large enough. I ran a 12 Ga. supplemental wire in parallel to the solenoid from the controller and it only raised the voltage to 9.8 volts. I measured the force required to pull the door latch even after adding an extended lever arm on the latch assembly, and it would trip the latch at about 14 pounds of force. The solenoids, with 9.8 volts, would not pull 14 pounds. I have not added another 12 Ga. wire yet from the power source to the controller yet, but that's my next step to raise the voltage at the solenoid as much as possible. Other than that, it's a great system. Maybe I should have gotten the 80 pound kit. ... show more

  • It's really nice when installed right
Ok. So it's pretty straight forward for wireing and install. Now... The tip.. I had my puller installed to pull on the inside door latch. It's a heavy pull. And I was having problems. So I adjusted my pull to the outer door handle latch, Wich is a lighter pull to activate the unlock and everything works fine now. So my suggestion is find the latch with the lightest pull and it should work fine ... show more

It works great in my 70 mustang but I had to do a lot of extra work and get more parts than what was supplied for my application. The black control box needs bigger mounting tabs so a guy can use sheet metal screws. Otherwise pretty straight forward.

  • Not officially MPC
This has been a good product but from what I understand after talking with MPC customer support/ technical support via email this is not the seller to purchase the kit through. MPC is not able to refund my failed part because it does not appear to be ordered through them. Wish this would have been more apparent before placing the order. ... show more

  • ALMOST PERFECT
Here we have a very wonderful shaved door kit. But even better is the amazing customer service. I bought this kit to install on my soon to be painted 1994 F150 XLT. Note: If you are not inclined with wiring 12v acc's. I do recommend finding one who is better suited to install them. First the wiring/control moudule this is a signal box and 3 relays. The signal box sends the pluse to a relay then to the solenoid in the door. Three relays because one is a safety relay. Next you have 3 extra buttons 2 for the inside of the car/truck if you please to shave the inside door handles too. And a outside switch in case of the remote battery dieding. I myself did not use these three switches, yet they seem more than enough to get the job done. Now the solenoid, these were very tricky for my truck because the way the inside door was made. Note that if you plan to install these in a 9th generation F series truck, do not even use the cables supplyed. Make custom hooks for the puller ( I made mine with a grinder and old coat hanger). Now the cables supplyed are very strong, don't get me wrong. They just didn't fit my needs. Now on to customer service. Yes I did receive a bad solenoid, YET I emailed the seller and within 2hrs I had a tracking number for my new part. And that is a great reason to buy here. (Extra note: My driver's solenoid froze is 31F but a few clicks and it opened the door. All in all great kit, great service. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY
Worst piece of s*** ever. Worked for about a week or two then the solenoid that gets used the most gave out. Will not function at all anymore. DO NOT BUY

  • Heck of a buy !!!!
This worked on my 92 chevy 1500. NOTE:: the solenoid is what pulls the door latch on the inside of the door. You use the provided cable to hook the solenoid to the door latch.. I found you must have a little slack on the cable allowing the cylinoid to move to work well. Keeping it too tight will not allow the solenoid to work properly.. this is a great product and work very well for my truck. And for only 79.99 I feel it's a great deal Ever !!!! ... show more
