Still providing relief today, the B17 Carved is made from vegetable tanned leather that will age beautifully over time. Additionally, laced saddle flaps allow for increased tension and preserve the saddle’s shape. A more flexible saddle than the standard B17, this comfortable saddle is finished with steel rivets and a steel undercarriage.

I have ridden bicycles recreationally, for physical training, and as a commuter, for 50 years. I have tried almost every type of saddle made, from the most padded and plush to minimalist racing saddles. I eventually learned that, counter to what common sense would lead one to expect, a firm, properly shaped saddle proved WAAAY more comfortable than a padded saddle. For many years I have ridden with the standard Brooks B17 and the narrower Brooks Swallow Racing Saddle. Recently, the seams of my clothing began to irritate my tender parts, and decided to try this Carved B17. What an improvement in comfort. I ride about 40 minutes a day in street clothes, and I do not notice the saddle, the seams of my clothing, or anything except the view and the enjoyment of riding. Brooks continues to use the highest quality materials, especially the leather. I know this seems like a lot of money for a bike saddle, but, given the quality, I don't know how they produce this saddle as inexpensively as they do. I only wish I had tried a Carved Brooks B17 earlier. If you haven't ridden a firm saddle before, start out with regular short 10 minute rides for a week, and let the saddle and your body get to know each other. Best saddle ever! ... show more

Comfortable! My Motobecane bicycle originally came with a Brooks, but in high school, I thought it need a light weight plastic Avocet seat. While that was cool and everything, over the next 45 years, the Avocet leather started cracking (weird right?). So I started learning more about the Brooks Saddle and its history and realized I made a grave error back in 1977, when I replace my brand new Brooks saddle, on my brand new Motobecane Grand Jubile! SO to right the errors of my ways, I decided to put the New and Improved Brooks B17 saddle with center cut out for improved "Man Hood", back on its prominent status, on top of the Motobecane Grand Jubile. Besides looks and history, it make my bike look cool again. I and 64 and still try to ride my bike every day. In a world of being passed by "E" bikes, this saddle lets you command the road and bike trail, as people slow down to pass you and say "What the Hell are you sitting on?" You can smile with confidence, knowing YOU ARE THE MASTER OF YOUR DESTINY, because you own a Brooks saddle! ... show more

🚴🏻♂️ Did 21.7 miles on a very chilly morning. Another gorgeous day with no wind. Third day on a brand new Brooks leather saddle. They’re made in jolly old England. Decided to try one with the cut out and it works. Zero perineum pain. Worth every cent Should have went with one of these years ago. I didn't want to spend this kind of money for a seat, but was convinced to buy this seat on the recommendation of a cycler who rode cross-country. I read a lot of reviews about the break-in period. They were not kidding. First day out, the seat was HARD. It was very uncomfortable. Well, I'm going to tough it out, and hopefully the seat will live up to its promise of comfort. Everyone's butt is different, but mine likes leather saddles. I was comfortable right out of the box with no break-in. I have 2 more of these ready to go on my other bikes. I like that Brooks saddles are firm, but also have a cushy "give" when you hit sharp bumps. I bought a Brooks Team Pro (also carved) before the B17. For me the B17 is more comfortable. I'm not sure why, but it might be due to the cutout. The B17 cutout is about 21 mm wide, the Team Pro is 18. I have a very large prostate. The extra 3 mm width could make the edge of the cutout less noticeable. I'm aware of the cutout edge on the Team Pro, but not so much on the B17. I'm 5'8", about 150 pounds. I typically ride upright at 13-17 mph on drop bar road bikes. ... show more

This saddle is just about perfect. It was relatively comfy right out of the box and 100 miles in, is only getting better and better with each ride. Note, the Imperial version I got comes factory pre-laced and Brooks recommends keeping it like that. They include a few other colors of laces in case you want to change the look but they still recommend using the same lacing as original should you want to replace the laces. The laces just keep the sides from flaying out too much over time since this version of the B17 has the potential of being a bit softer than other non cutout versions. Brooks leather saddles are the best because they adjust to you over time versus you having to adjust to the saddle like virtually all other saddles. It looks great too and is made to a high standard in Britain. I'm using it on my ebike and highly recommend! ... show more
