Overall I'm happy. The mattress does not look as good as it does in the picture in the advertisement, but it also doesn't look as bad as some of the reviews I've seen. It's not quite 8 in, more like seven on the edges and towards the middle a little less. I love the frame and the drawers underneath. The quality and comfort of the mattress are fine; however, the packing was terrible. The box arrived broken open at both ends and the plastic wrapping the mattress was completely ripped from one end. The mattress did arrive with 2 small stains from being unwrapped. Very disappointed. If we didn't need the mattress this weekend i would have sent it back for replacement. Need better corrugated and tape for such large items. ... show more

I have had this about a year. After 6 months I rotated head to foot and last month I flipped it over. It has compacted quite a bit even though I sit in different areas and have rotated and flipped. Sometimes I sit on the side edges and can feel it is higher, but it isn't comfortable that way for anything but a temporary perch. It is pretty comfy to sleep on, either as a couch or fully open. The color is blue but they used white thread - I keep the futon covered with a sheet as I want to keep the main cover clean. It is a decent value for the money, overall. ... show more

    • Strong smell; seems a little overpriced for the quality
Says 8 inch, but at max was about 7 after a couple of days, and is now closer to 5 a few weeks in. This is for my 7 year old, so it’s not a lot of weight at any given time. It would be better if the sides were better enforced, too. Probably part of why it’s not keeping its height. It also had a VERY strong chemical smell upon opening, the room seemed toxic for a few days, and although it’s gotten better, it’s still there weeks later. Any sheet directly touching the mattress smells like it too. I’d say support wise it’s it’s not the most comfortable. It’s alright for a futon.. I don’t think it’s going to take very long before I start feeling a bar. In hindsight, I feel like I could have made a better choice in a mattress, I did have higher expectations with the price and was a bit skeptical and disappointed with the quality when I got it on the bed. I’m not returning it, but if I had it to do over, I think ultimately, I’d get a different mattress. ... show more

Super easy to take out of the box and set it up, it arrived days ahead of schedule (which was VERY pleasing!). I bought this to be a couch in my craft room that can be converted into a bed for company to sleep on. Initially it is a little hard to form into a couch on my futon frame because it is very firm. But I don't think that's a bad thing. I see that as a sign of it's high quality and I believe that over time it will stay in the folded couch position easier. I of course tested it out in the bed/sleeping position and it was WONDERFUL! The perfect amount of firmness and I couldn't feel any of my frame poking through. It was made in the USA, which is awesome!! It arrived packaged well with delayed shipping. It has a plastic like smell when it was first opened, but it dissipated right away, once in place. It seems to be the 8 " desired thickness which we wanted. I think it would be a better product if it was not wrapped in polyester but we have covered it with a cotton futon cover to enhance the comfort and look. It is only for use in a spare bedroom and I think it will be durable and suit the purpose. It is definitely more utilitarian than a showstopper. Spend the extra money if you want one you don't need to cover. ... show more

    • Very happy with this mattress
It met my hopes. It was thick enough to provide the support needed for a good night sleep without waking sore. It’s meant for kids/friend sleepovers but I had to sleep on it once to test it out and I was impressed. It wasn’t as dense as I’ve experienced with other mattresses like this but was still supportive. I can’t give it a 4 for pain relief because I can’t speak to that. The only thing that’s not fantastic is the fabric doesn’t feel or look high end but was great to sit on and totally met our bedroom needs. Also the smell wasn’t that bad. I’m usually sensitive to smells and I did notice it but it wasn’t too bad and I didn’t notice it the next day. ... show more

    • Great for my futon
My parents moved in and my office is now my bedroom. In my office I had a futon just for sitting or if I ever had guests. I did not anticipate my elderly parents moving in, so I had to give them my bed. I have a horrible back, osteoporosis, arthritis in my spine, retrolisthesis, herniated discs, and just had surgery a year ago on my back. I was sleeping on a 2 inch futon mattress that was making the pain worse. I could not sleep through the night. i bought this one and can finally sleep all through the night and I do not wake up stiff anymore! I love this bed! ... show more
