I was concerned about what would arrive. It was shipped and sold by amazon so I was mostly confident. Upon arrival it was very thin. However, give it 4 days to fully fluff. It is great, very comfortable and good value for what I paid. I got the black which will not stain if liquid spills on sheets. I do not recommend sleeping on a futon without a fitted and top sheet, a double layer to keep it sanitary. My only complaint is the box was sealed with a single layer of tape on each end and was almost torn open. Thanks, amazon. ... show more

Mattress arrived in a tightly wrapped bundle. I laid it out flat on my futon frame and observed it was very lumpy and had a MILD almost plastic-type odor, but I opened the bedroom window, turned on the fan and didn't return to the room until the following day. At that time, the mattress lumps flattened out and the faint odor was almost completely gone. I put on a futon cover and then situated frame into an upright position with mattress on it quite easily. Mattress is very comfortable and I would purchase again. Just be prepared to let the mattress "air out" for a day or two and that it should be laid flat for a day or two as well so that it levels out. ... show more

All I can say is that those at the warehouse fulfilling orders are confused - I ordered a 12" Hunter Green futon mattress and they sent to me a 8" Bright ugly blue futon mattress - NOT EVEN CLOSE!! There is another customer who wrote a review that got a even different one in beige. This is just slack at this point and horrible service. I am returning this so I will post up how easy the return was - I have requested a replacement - I will get the correct item if it takes me 5 years and I call the customer service daily...it has now become a vendetta...6/28 One star until they get it right Returning items seems really simple!! (though of course they should have gotten it right the first time - since I have exactly one chair and one futon frame it sucks to have no where to sit in the house) OK - so I signed up for UPS pickup and they came and picked up the mistake futon and took it away. It seems, via tracking, to have arrived at its destination futon is in transit. So - let us all see if they can get the size and color right this time. Plus the new futon is listed with price 0$ on my orders page so so far so good. I will post up an update when the new one arrives. 7/3 If I get the right futon then I will change my star rating based on item only. They got it right the second time and the return was very easy - so OK! Don't order a 12" futon mattress unless it is for a bed - it will never sit properly on a frame! It is too thick, but it is super comfortable (one you put a foam pad under a lining) for a guest bed. ... show more

Received the futon mattress even before the promised delivery date. It was packed in plastic inside a cardboard box and rolled up. Upon unpacking it, it was clean and obviously new with no flaws whatsoever. The bright blue color matches our Florida Gators theme perfectly and really completes the room. And to top it off, surprisingly... this mattress is softer and more comfortable than the original one that came with the futon! I'm very satisfied and especially love the fact that I was given the option for paying in installments with Amazon! What could be better!? ... show more

I would have given it 5 stars but when I unpacked the item I was upset to see that the "tufted" areas on the mattress were done in a cream colored heavy thread/cord & didn't even match the "burgundy" color that I had ordered. If the tufted areas (which is why I ordered this one...it looked so nice in the pics & not plain) had been done in at least matching thread I would have been much happier. However, using a cream color was disappointing & left the mattress looking a bit cheap. Also, there are many long & loose threads at the seams. I'm afraid to cut them off not knowing if the seam would then unravel. On the plus side...it is very comfortable, thick & "cushie" to sit on. I'm not sure how long it will take for it to flatten down with regular use. I however, got it for occasional usage. For a few extra dollars I will probably go over the tufted places with a matching thread or sew on some decorative buttons. I can't stress enough how much this cheapened the look of this item. If it had not been for that I would have given it 5 stars easily. The material it's self is soft but heavy & seems to be very durable. I wanted to update. I have slept on this a couple of times now & it is very comfortable. Still it does not get used every day (it is in a guest room). I also wanted to address the "smell" some people are talking about.....straight out of the box there was NO smell. Maybe a "new" smell for a day or two but not a chemical or bad smell. ... show more

i love this futon! the last futon i had was full of metal springs and was just really uncomfortable (but free from a friend so i put up with it). THIS FUTON is sooooooooo much nicer. the compressed cotton idea is just better all around. it's like lying on a firm but comfortable giant pillow. i can't feel the boards of my futon frame underneath the mattress at all, which is really nice. it's thick enough but not too thick to make folding into couch form a problem. my only complaint is that the fabric on the outside isn't as soft as i would like - it's a bit scratchy. but that's nothing a simple blanket or full sized fitted sheet can't fix. great deal for the price. makes for a great nights sleep. ... show more
