I had this many many many many years ago when my Mom took me to Cape Canaveral in the early 1970s. So I saw it and "I have to try this" -- and the memory was good, the product is fun. And everyone should experience this product exactly ONCE as an adult. It's much better for kids. :)

While the taste was good, the texture set my teeth on edge. Like cereal marshmallows that had dried and aged to be even more crispy. I find I would've rathered a treat that could've been softened: I don't really see the point in ice cream that's stiff and crunchy. It worked... okay, to just break off chunks and let them dissolve in my mouth, but yeah... not for me. ... show more

I got this as a bug out bag treat but wanted to try it first before I store it for emergency. Glad I tried it because not only did this make me want a real ice cream sandwich but I had to go an eat something else just to get the taste out of my mouth. Not only did it just crumble into pieces upon opening it but the ice cream part just tasted like a stale marshmallow that was left over and forgotten after the smore season in a an open bag and just turned into a powder dust. Also for a mountain house freezer dried product this shows expiration in 2 years. Overall disappointing taste, presentation and experience for even someone who is craving for some nostalgia. I bought this for my adult son but I had a bite too lol. I am a picky eater and thought it was good! I thought it tasted like what an ice cream sandwich would taste like if it were a cookie (because it is crunchy and obviously not cold) and he thought it tasted like an Oreo. Ours came in one piece.
