  • Crystal Clear

We purchased these radios for our camping trips and hikes. When camping, we often don't have reception and communication is therfore limited. The price of these radios seems reasonable, and the reception is crazy clear. My wife walked about a third of a mile away in our neighborhood, and it sounded as clear as a cell phone. Can't wait to use these in the woods. These will also come in handy when backing up our trailer. We are happy with our purchase. ... show more

  • Cost effective but not completely reliable communication tool
Pattern: Radios
I REALLY like these and want to love them. I have several sets of these and find them and absolute necessity on the boat. We use them when docking, anchoring, and when taking the dingy to shore for provisioning or shore activity. They are light and will float if paired to a flotation device. They do work to about a half mile to a mile (1-2 KM) and are very clear. The reason this is not a 5 star rating is we have lost 2 that were damaged when they fell into water. One let water in through the charging port and the other let water in through the battery panel. Overall I will continue to use these as they are very cost effective, extremely easy to use (my 5 year old uses it) and eliminate the need for a cellular signal when your out on a boat. We also use them when backing in our RV into tight sites and on camping trips to maintain contact while hiking and biking. These are a very low cost necessity I always take with me on trips. ... show more

  • Good, but could be better
Pattern: Radios
Great radio to use with other outdoor enthusiast in your party. Competitively priced and looks like a quality product for adult adventurers. Range is about what you'd expect for an FRS / GMRS handheld unit that doesn't require an FCC license to use depending on what's between you and the other user you're trying to communicate with so don't expect more than two or three miles at the most unless there is a clear line of site between you and the other user. What I really like about the radio is having the ability to monitor and communicate on two channels the radio can be set to monitor. Also really liked being able to choose no call tone, should the call button be pressed accidently, an annoying call tone won't be transmitted to all the other users in your party. What I don't like, the connection to use an external mic, it only uses one single pin to connect a mic accessory which is really important for my needs. This wouldn't be acceptable on Motorola's professional radios, why is it acceptable for these. Motorola, if you're listening, please incorporate a secure mic mount to the radio so the user doesn't have to worry about the pin for the mic being pulled out while they are transmitting and don't realize the mic is pulled out. I need to know the mic is secured to the radio so when I press the mic button to transmit, it's actually transmitting. Another dislike is not having a loop for a carabiner. Sure, you can use the bottom of the radio's housing since that's your only option. ... show more

  • Charging the battery
Pattern: Radios
The radios are fine. I would have preferred that a charging tray was included instead of the Y chargers. Less of a hassle when charging the radios.

  • Simple, tough, effective radio
Pattern: Radios
Online reviews are annoying. It seems as pretty much everything for sale today is "COMPLETE GARBAGE". I was feeling depressed in my handheld radio search. I decided to take a shot on these and well now I want to add to the POSITIVE that you rarely get in internet reviews. I bought this for skiing. My partner and I typically will ski in separate areas. We stick each one of these in our front coat pocket and use it to communicate when we want to meet up. Range is sufficient. We can reach everywhere on smaller mountains. On larger mountains, from summit to base it works as long as you don't have a ridge between you. Battery life is FANTASTIC. We've used them twice now (probably about 8 hours of On time and we had 20 or so separate conversations) and the battery is still showing as "full" on each. I don't need much. I don't really care for features.... we pick a frequency, lock the radio, and that's that. Lol. For this purpose, I can see this radio lasting a long time. Highly recommend! ... show more

Brought these on a trip. Turns out one battery was defective and could not be charged. Kind of a bummer

  • These things work great! Great distance!
Pattern: Radios
Tested these in town so far and they work for a LONG ways. Talked to my dad while driving over to a local gas station. Can't wait to test them up in the hills while hiking / camping. Easy to use, easy to pair them, and good security on the channels. Love the design, the look, and they work great. Great cases too! ... show more
