  • Very Impressed by the quality.
Model name: T475
I bought these so the family could stay in touch at Lake Nantahala in NC. There is no cell service at the lake. We kept one in the house and one in the boat and they worked like a charm. I used the high power option of 2 watts and we stayed in touch. We did get out of range when we explored the southern portion of the lake and river. Remember these units are UHF and primarily line of sight transmission. Mountains will interfere with the signal. If you go to lake Nantahala you will need a good set of walkie talkies. These are easy to use, sound great, and the batteries lasted all day. I used the rechargeable batteries and bought an extra pair. ... show more

  • High powered walkie-talkies, no license required.
Model name: T475
Very happy with purchase. The Batteries that came with them did not last very long so I put new lithium ion batteries in them. They work great, these are Awesome walkie-talkies that come with a nice case that is full of accessories. . A+

  • Good range
Model name: T475
I love these walkies. Used a few sets together in a semi wooded area to keep in contact between different sites. They worked well even at great distances through the trees. They are sturdy and held up well even in the rain. Love the included straps to help secure them to our belongings.

  • Good radio and encrypted.
Model name: T475
Friday June 27, 2025 I got this mainly for Off Roading, Camping or a place where there is no cell phone service. I’m a big fan of communication and having a radio is a big plus especially when you are driving a separate cars with a friend. My friend actually got this first and I ended up getting one for myself to have my own instead of using his. I’m giving this a 4 stars for many reasons even though I have not used mine yet, it was my friends radio. Range: It claims that it’s 35 miles. On our way back, my friend decided to let me hold onto his until our next trip. We both live less than 35 miles from each other and we were not able to communicate. Sound quality: Clear while not too far away from each other. Functionality: Since my friend been having the radio longer than me and I didn’t had the time to play around with it as much, when I got to the camp site (Off Grid), my friend was the one who paired our radios to be able to communicate and it works. I say the radio is very easy to use. Durability and Design: Love it! Charging capability: I guess it’s ok. It comes with a split wall charger. It would be nice if it’s a USB C so you don’t have to carry multiple. They do have a charging dock but you have to get that separately. For those of you who wants privacy and not allowing anyone to tap into your frequency, this radio is encrypted. It does come with an earpiece that I have not tried it yet. ... show more

  • Hardy radios and have a decent range
Model name: T475
Quality radios - just make sure if you are adding radios that are different brands they may not be “frequency” compatible.

  • Like the function, hate the battery life - doesn't hold charge after ~2 years!
Model name: T470
I've had prior models of Talkabouts, and it's always the same thing - batteries stop holding/taking charge after a few years of use. I got these for hunting, and others in my deer camp have same or similar models Talkabouts, and report the same issue. So they get used a couple of times a year. I don't store them drained - they are charged. Always a fresh charge before the trip. Just when I needed to use it, the battery was drained. Last year I just assumed that we drained the battery from use, but no, it clearly wasn't holding charge, in the "off" condition, mind you. Meanwhile, I have cheap made in China flashlights, cordless vacuum and other devices like that, and they remain full of juice. I forgot a headlamp in my hunting backpack for a year, it was nice and full when I found it. Range is okay, it sort of works in the woods within a mile, depending on terrain, beyond that it gets staticky and you can't hear. All the claims of "22 miles" or whatever are obviously puffery. ... show more

  • Battery life
Model name: T475
The radios themselves sould very good. They will go the distance of around a half mile through tilt up walls. The clips are horrible they break fairly easy. Also I have had to replace the batteries in 3 of the 4 I have bought. The batteries do not last a full 10 hr day which is what we work I have been using these on and off for about a year now. I will probably be replacing these with some that I can quick change the batteries. I will be using these while camping though. ... show more
