Tire removal on an e-bike is not as easy as it is on a regular bike, because of the motor(s) and wiring. It is even less fun when you have equipped it with accessories such as saddle bags and the like. And, at my elder age, getting on my knees at odd places roadside to effect a repair of a tube is no fun even if the front wheel has no motor encumberments. Especially so, as I ride in all weather. In the first six months of ownership of my first e-bike, I had ten sudden flats and two slow leaks to contend with, in each case very small items, such as a carpenter's staple, or a brad-sized nail, all hard so see ahead on the pavement, while at speed. I tried the goop in a spray can someone offered, and it not only did not help noticeably, it made a considerable mess of things. So, as I had a credit at the place I had bought the bike, I bought a set of these Tannus Armour inserts from them, and once installed at the next flat, that same bike went another 3000+ miles with no flats, over the next two and a half years. I do also ride off-road, btw, where sharp rocks and broken bottles are often hazards harder to spot. So consider all these things when comparing the price against the value of your tires and enjoyability of your bike. So I bought another set with my new e-bike recently purchased through Amazon... with two motors. I've not installed them, and won't, until the first flat. One reason I have saddle bags, is to carry them with me, along with an electric air pump also bought from Amazon. Now, while out and about on my old bike with the inserts, I did use that pump several times, stopping to help other bikes without inserts fix their flats. I evangelized the idea of inserts to those riders. Likes: no more flats = no more sore knees, lost time and effort and general unhappiness and inconvenience, all replaced instead with a learned confidence that it would have to be something more easily seen ahead on the road if I was to have a flat: something more easily avoided. You fell more like a Destroyer captain who knows the depth of the water with the certainty of sonar, chugging at cruise along the coastline looking for submarines. Increased the resale value of the old bike and made the new owner very happy at the notion. Comes with special tubes especially made to work best without pinching or causing unequal tension on the tube's surface due the displacement of air within the tire by the insert. Increases the resale value of the bike (I'm no physicist, and do not play one on TV, but that's my take). Compared against the value of my time and my knees, I look at it as costing $40 a year or every thousand miles, whichever comes first -- if I upgrade my bike every four years. Make that $30, given the increased resale value of the old bike. And, you can always test that, offering a lower price if you remove them inserts and move them to your new bike, cutting the cost in half for the next four years. Do the math: it computes as a good investment and real-world value. DON'T FORGET to choose which valve stem style you prefer - another feature/benefit - but you don't want to accidentally get the wrong one. Dislikes: may or may not apply to your particular bike/tires. On my first bike, I had to trim off portions of the insert that would fit agains the sidewalls, protruding above the tire's rims. Does cut easily with scissors, as it is very thin, there, and flexible. There is no easy way to do that uniformly and accurately, and evenly on each side of the tire, such that you don't risk an out of balance tire (don't know if that's actually possible: just a worry in my mind), or pinching of the tube at the rim's seal (also in my mind, no doubt). It's just a step I wish could have been avoided. CONCLUSION: a must have for sane and safe, enjoyable biking. A SMART BIKE MFG OR STORE would always offer the choice of pre-installed inserts, or not, to save installation woes and waiting for that first flat because of those woes.

About five years back, I finally threw in the towel on tubeless. I'm not a racer looking to save 100 grams... I just want to be able to ride all day without having to spend hours fixing flats (often with a tube anyway) or worrying about whether I have the air pressure too low to keep the bead seated or protect a rim when I go over a rock. Eventually, I just reverted to putting the tire sealant into the inevitable replacement tubes. But that still leaves a potential for pinch flats and rim damage. This solves both issues at once. My kit included a good set of Kenda 26 by 1.50-1.75 tubes. The liners and tubes were easy to install into a 26 by 240 MTB tire, and mounting the tire really wasn't any more difficult than usual. Some tire sizes require trimming of the liner's sides (mine didn't), but there's actually a line on them that shows exactly where to cut. And unlike most tubeless rim-protection pads, they shouldn't be difficult to field-service should a flat somehow happen. So far, I've had these out twice on my old FSB for a total of about 12-miles of asphalt and around 30/35-miles of mixed dirt road, single track, and rock-strewn fire-road. An interesting observation on asphalt is that with 35-pounds in them, the knobby tires are pleasantly low rolling resistance. In the dirt, the advice to drop the air pressure by about five pounds from what one usually runs seems accurate. I usually keep about 22 to 25 pounds in the dirt. But running about 5-pounds less seems to have about the same feel. They also allow the confidence to air way down, should you want. I know these aren't the trendy tubeless kludges everyone is currently fighting to install (field service!?). But I'm also not a compensated racer promoting the latest trends. I'm simply happy enough with these that I may order another set to try on my gravel bike's 700 by 42 tires... which have also been switched back to tubes.

They were a little difficult to install but now that they are in, I haven't had any flats for the last several months. Before, I would get a flat about once of month or more. Initially, I felt like it made my ride feel stiffer but now that they are broken in, it feels almost cushioned. I didn't notice any weight difference but I am using an ebike. I feel like they are a bit expensive but not having to repair tire flats has been worth it. I would recommend it if you can afford it.

After my 6th flat tire on my ebike in 4 months I went ahead and decided to give these a try. Small pieces of wire and a piece of glass were always the culprit. Now I have the Tannus paired with HEB AllScape heavy duty tires. Hoping it makes me closer to bullet proof. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have a good tire lever set. Will make your life a lot easier. It's not a hard install if you've replaced a tire and tube before, but does take some extra time given how much you're stuffing into the tire and then mounting on the rim. Haven't had an opportunity to ride on it yet. Adding these will also make swapping out a tube much harder but if I get less flats I will consider it a fair trade.

Three main points: 1. The tubes 2. The roll-flat-ness 3. The installation 1. The first innertube (of three) popped on initial inflation -- just past 10 psi. Both the insert and tube were installed correctly. The second innertube deflated less than a block down the road -- the valve came completely off. It was also inserted correctly. Third tube emptied of air a mile into a 2-mile commute. 2. The roll-flat function of these guys is nonexistent -- there is no rolling, and the tire is definitely as flat as it would have been without the insert. (I know, because walking miles with a flat tire is exactly why I bought these things...) On this third tube, I had to get off the bike and shuffle it down the sidewalk because the tube came out of the tire and started to wrap itself around my axle, about a block or so after the audible pop. (I had to cut that third tube off, and remove it entirely.) This mile walk also shredded my rear tire, causing me to have to buy a new one. 3. Installation isn't really that bad. Essentially cramming a tire inside another tire, then trying to fit a tube in there... is gonna be weird and require some work. I thought/hoped it would be worth it. (It was not.) I can't rate the puncture resistance, since the bike never made it far enough to get punctured. These bad boys look good on paper and in the sweet graphics, but execution is a complete joke. Three innertubes in less than a mile of flat, level pavement is nuts. The cost of these POSs, the extra cost of buying a new rear tire, and new tubes, has made this experiment VERY not worth it. In any case, there are two positives. First, I have A LOT of extra innertube rubber to use for patches in the future (though I honestly don't know if I trust the salvage off these tubes). Second, I've got these two sweet pinkish floaty-donut things that might actually make a decent core for wreaths this holiday season... Seriously, folks, avoid these. Just invest in quality spare tubes.

Things to know. Have a tire lever tool to get off your tire to start the process. Have a valve stem remover to control your inner tube and electric air pump that can read psi. Have decent sharp scissors as you will likely have to trim it. The process is straight forward. If you try install it right out of the box it is far too big so you will likely need to trim it first. I am installing 26x3.0/4.0 tannus armor. You can see the picture of what it looks trimmed vs not trimmed. The tannus armour should stick out only a little out of your tire. Put in the armour first and then put one side of the tire and armour inside of the ride. Use the ground as your leverage to the rim down and push the tire and armour down to snug into the rim. If the other side is having a hard time to go down. Make sure release all the air by removing the the inner tube valve stem and then push down on all your tires to remove the air and it should go in super easy. Took about 45 minutes to install both.

Inserts are a pain in the back side to install. The tubes that came with the kit are extremely poor quality! Imagine after going through all the hassle of installing them only to find the tire flat after sitting over night. One of the tubes had a small pinhole where rubber is molded together. I tried patching but patch wouldn’t hold.
