  • Excellent phone at a reasonable price
Color: Sage Green
This is probably the second or third time I have ordered a phone from Amazon and I have had perfect success to this point. I bought a couple of iPhones previously for my kids too. Anyway, shipping and delivery was outstanding, and I paid $500 for it which is reasonable for this phone. I like the fact that Motorola has two models of flip phones, so I had a choice to get the less premium option to keep the cost in check. Now for the phone.. I came from the Motorola edge plus 2023, which is a premium flagship to this phone. I can slightly detect some differences in processing but it's negligible. For $500 this phone is a big win for me. I much prefer the ergonomics of this phone over my old full size models over the past ten years or more, and I don't think I'll ever go back. I always got full screen models too, so being able to have a 6.7" screen that folds in half before disappearing into the pocket is pure magic. The only thing that may be a drawback is battery life. It's obviously not as long as my edge plus, but I adapted to it in a day or two, and it's really not that significant of a difference TBH. If I lost this phone right now I'd buy another one just like it. For sure. And I have rarely ever felt like that about others I've had. This is a good phone, but it glitches at times with odd stuff, like screen size on YouTube and weird stuff like that it apparently has trouble identifying or something. But I haven't had anything that even needed to reset it or something like that. Just know it is one of the acceptable issues. Heck, my edge plus had them too... Just random stuff like that every once in awhile. I think that covers the positives and negatives. I did have a chance to compare it to the premium Motorola razr and the Samsung flip phones, and I settled on the Motorola's easily. The Samsung, while cool and pretty smooth, don't seem as solid and attractive as the Razr's. I opted for the lower tier phone because I didn't think I would benefit from the big outside screen, as I thought I would just open it up anyway, and I was correct. I actually do use the outer screen on this phone though. Usually the timer and the time display. Too early to say for sure, but this seems like the best phone I've had since the LG V10 I had around 10 years ago, when they had a replacement battery option and I got a 10000 mah external battery case from Zero lemon. That was the shizznipplzes I tell you!! Seems like a novel phone in my eyes and has changed my phone handling ways for the better. ... show more

  • Cell phone
Color: Sage Green
If you want an affordable foldable phone with a fun nostalgic design, the Motorola Razr 2023 is one of the best entry-level flip phones available. The biggest things to consider are foldable durability, camera quality, outer screen usefulness, and whether you value compact style more than flagship-level performance. The Sage Green version is especially popular because of the soft vegan leather finish that gives the phone a premium feel and extra grip. ... show more

  • broke after 9 months
Color: Summer Lilac
9 months in and I have a black line across the middle where it folds. I am really careful with my phones and usually phones last me a couple of years. Now I can't use it at all and I have no idea how to get support. I don't suppose there is a warranty since I didn't purchase one to go with the phone. This is the most money I have spent on a phone and now I have to get a new one. No, I don't think this was a good value for the money. The battery life was not good, however it did charge fast. I used this with the Verizon network and it seemed to work just fine. I am so frustrated and won't purchase another razr this time around, which is too bad because I liked how small it got. ... show more

  • Brilliant foldable Android phone
Color: Summer Lilac
My 2020 flagship Moto Razr 5G was a great phone on its own right, but after the daily grind of a teachers life, it finally expired. I loved the foldable design and so went for this new Razr 2023 as it's replacement. Wow, what an astonishing improvement in only 3 years. This new Razr has all the benefits of it's folding predecessor, while sporting an amazing assignment is improvements that make it superior in every way. - my old Razr' Achilles heel was it's tiny 2800mah battery; it was as bad as an Apple, requiring a charge every few hours, and getting worse as it aged. This new Razr has effectively double the battery life, with a 4200mah battery, even larger than the Razr+. - My old Razr had a small but usable 6.1 inch POLED screen. This new Razr is gigantic by comparison, at 6.9 inches - it's a huge noticeable difference, and higher resolution. - Despite it's substantially bigger battery and screen, this new Razr is noticeably thinner and lighter than the 2020. - the vegan leather cover is 'Da Bomb! No slips, no fingerprints, no back glass shattered. The 2020 was fast, but this thing, with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, is screaming fast, over 660kb on Antutu! - both have a super high quality feel, crazy good looks, and the benefits of the foldable design cannot be overstated. It just ROCKS. - Better colors. Mine is the super lavender/purple, looks terrific. Highest recommendation. ** Update ** after two months, just about everything above still holds, only one negative/ caveat to add: in two months of heavy daily use, I have pinched my index finger twice upon opening. Ouch! In two years of ownership, that never happened once with the old Razr. The hinge can bite when snapped open to is full flat condition... * A slick plus is the wireless charging - slow but high tech, works great overnight on your bedside table. It doesn't come with one, but they are dirt cheap (and I already had one Still highest recommendation. ... show more

  • What's important to you?
Color: Sage Green
This review may be lengthy.... I have been itching to go back to a flip phone for many years. I even bought a flip basic phone years back and went back and forth between that and a smart phone. I ended up ditching the basic flip phone because I needed all the perks a smartphone gives you. I finally decided to pull the trigger on getting a smart flip phone now that you can get one for well under $1,000. I have been using a Pixel 5 for the last couple years and I may use comparisons with this review. Sometimes you can use it one-handed but overall it is a two hand operation. I can open and close it one handed and I don't have very big hands. It's easier to close than to open. Not everyone will be able to open and close it one-handed. The phone without a case is quite slim and light, but I always have a case with a kickstand because I don't pay all the monies for insurance. Most of these types of cases add some bulk and weight but it's worth the protection and convenience of the kickstand. The camera gets the job done. Takes a bit of time sometimes to process but the pics look just fine. A downside with going back to Motorola from Google is Motorola users are one of the last to get software updates. Years ago that was a big deal to me, now not so much. The main screen is fantastic. On the Pixel 5 there wasn't much option to change the overall color variation. On the Razr you can change the color variation quite a bit which I really like. I'm even impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the small external screen. I was wondering if I would like the Razr + better with the bigger external screen but this small screen is just fine for me and the phone gets a better battery life than the Razr +. I was considering a Samsung flip but I had a Samsung before and I wasn't a big fan how much the colors popped so much they looked too unnatural. Dolby Atmos is so nice. I use multiple bluetooth audio devices and with Atmos you can tweak the settings for each one and it saves the settings for future uses. The finger print sensor works great and is fast. The fact that it's on the side works well in the car when I have my phone in the dash holder as opposed to the Pixel which has the fingerprint sensor on the back. You can store multiple finger's prints to unlock it which is great because this kind of phone you could be holding it multiple ways (one-handed, two-handed, closed, in the dash holder). The crease in the middle of the screen is so minimal you seriously barely notice it. I feel it more than I see it and it's not a big deal at all. The big ugly creases on other prior phones is a big reason why I never pulled the trigger on getting a smart flip (other than the expensive prices). A minor detail....the closing of the flip. I remember years back the gratifying feeling of closing the old flip phones. These smart flip phones don't close like they used to. And they can't. They're just built so differently. They don't have the same snap feeling and sound, which to me is a bit of a disappointment. But the trade-off is worth it with all the other benefits today's smart phones gives us. To a tech lover like me it's still very cool and old school to be able to open and close it. I'm giving myself a few weeks to try out this beautiful and very cool piece of tech before I decide to go with it or go back to a one dimensional flat phone that gets updates much quicker. Being able to hold this phone folded up and see and use the small external screen is a very cool feeling in itself. I will probably give an updated review later on. As of right now I'm leaning towards keeping this cool piece of tech that is available for only $500 compared to other flips and folds that are near or over the $1,000 mark. Update 1: Using Maps on this thing is fantastic! I love how the colors pop a little more than on the Pixel 5 and the bigger screen makes Maps that much better! I tried using the video camera at a kid's basketball game and now I don't understand why all the review videos I watched said that the video camera makes things real choppy. My videos came out just fine! Maybe they had other apps running in the background while they were shooting. I will say maybe there is a slight difference in quality between the Razr 2023 and the Pixel 5 but if there is you can BARELY see a difference. And that goes for the speaker as well. The Razr's speaker is not as full as the Pixel's, but again the difference is minimal. I will give another update at a later date. Update 5 months after purchase: Well the honeymoon is over. I was using the phone and all the sudden the main screen stopped responding to my touch. The phone was still running, but not really. The external screen responded to touch but the weather nor my contacts were syncing with the phone. I didn't drop the phone or subdued it to water. The phone is well within the one year manufacturer's warranty so I have to send the phone in and get a renewed one as a replacement, which I'm not happy about. I should get a new one. For the moment I'm using my old Pixel 2 XL. If the replacement is dinged up at all I may trade it in for a Pixel 8 Pro as those are on discount with my service provider. I love the flip, but five months in and the phone failing me is ridiculous. Update: I lost faith in it after the screen failed. I gave it to my son to use after getting it back from repair and got a Pixel 8 Pro. The cool flip part is basically nostalgia. It was cool for a while but then it started to feel annoying, like it was more work that is unnecessary. The one thing the Razr has over the Pixel is there's more customizing options (color tweakness and icons) with the Motorola phone. Everything else the Pixel is more superb. I also don't miss how the flip was much thicker in my pocket. ... show more

  • Perfect as long as it holds up over time
Color: Vanilla Cream
I've only had my phone for a week and I'm pretty simple as far as phones go so this is the most expensive phone I've ever bought. I normally use 100-130 dollar Walmart phones on my att plan because I break them regularly. Over the last few years I've been severely disappointed as the phones just keep getting bigger and bigger and now they don't even fit in your pocket anymore. Thus how I justified spending 3 times the money on this phone. I've been looking at it for a year but was terrified of the screen folding wouldn't last and the touch screen would be a pain and not function correctly however this phone works fantastic and when folded fits in my pocket great. I'm still concerned about it holding up over time being opened and closed regularly. All I can say is if it will last close to a year and they keep making it (Everytime I like something they quit making it) but if it'll make it 8months I love it enough to just buy a new one every 8 months. If your thinking about trying it and are looking for a smaller phone that fits in your pocket while maintaining all online usage shopping Facebook etc etc this is definitely the answer. I also love that they sell the base model that doesn't have a big screen on the front so it's as simple as it can be for as fancy as it is. 🤣 Buy it try it and you'll love it ... show more

  • It's fine
Color: Sage Green
After two years, the external screen has stopped working. Now, that's not to say I haven't dropped it a few (many) times, but I have not treated it particularly roughly. My last phone lasted me 3.5 years. I'm kind of tired of replacing a phone that often, and we shouldn't have to. So I'm rating this 3. Solid phone considering the current state of the product crapitude. I did like that the folding helped me not look at my phone ALL THE DAMN TIME, and it wasn't particularly expensive to give me two years. ... show more

  • Overall, its a great phone for the price and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.
Color: Sage Green
I've had this phone for 2 years and its basically everything I'd want from a phone of this price. It's fast performing, durable, good audio and screen. The fold functionality works great and doesn't impact the screen. The camera quality is lacking, but not severely and I'm fine with that given the price. The external display is a little bit buggy, often times failing to read gestures or reading them incorrectly, but it works well enough. Motorola's OS also has some room for improvement. Battery life is fine and can be improved by limiting the external display if needed. I decided to try this cheaper Motorola phone after having dealt with overpriced Samsung phones that felt apart and LG phones that suffered from planned obsolescence. Overall, its a great phone for the price and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. ... show more
