To all that have a 400ex that was wondering would this item fit...it does...and looks great to me because I was looking to add some bling to my oil cooler...the dipstick is shorter than the 400ex stock dipstick...but it you keep your oil level properly...shorter will not be a problem because this Amazon dipstick will measure the oil highest point... I'm not sure how well you will be able to measure the temperature of the oil in the cooler...haven't checked that yet...however it only tappers out at 100 degrees...the look is all I cared for tho.

Fits on a Honda XR650L, sensor is a little short but does read oil level at the very tip. Needs an o-ring where the sensor threads through the cap. Mine leaked at higher RPM/oil pressure.

Fits well on my XR650L. However, its significantly shorter than my stock dip stick. Which means I need to either carry my stock dipstick when I travel or niggarig something to make this dipstock longer. Anyone that owns an XRL knows how temperamental the oil level can be on these bikes. There are times when it has plenty of oil but is hot and thus shows no reading on the dipstick. And there are times when the reading show "high". It fluctuates. Fortunately, the bike doesn't seem to care as long as it has enough oil in it to function. Having said this, this dipstick needs to be submersed in oil to get good reading. Therefore, the readings are not always accurate. I might order a longer bitherm from the kitchen section of amazon and see if that works better.

First of all this is drop in for qmb139, but had no markings for oil level so make your own. Also, it arrives incorrectly set, so grab the probe and looking at the gauge turn it clockwise to the correct temperature. I also had to add a bit of rtv where the actual thermometer meets the cap. The threads need cleaned up a bit, but it’s a $6 part.
