Description

Are you tired of paying $100+ per hour at the shop for repairs you could handle yourself — if someone had shown you how? Most motorcycle books give you the basics: change your oil, check your chain, replace a brake pad. But what happens when your engine starts knocking? When your electrical system throws a fault? When your suspension feels wrong and no YouTube video can tell you why? That's where every other book stops. That's where this one begins. Motorcycle Mechanics: The Complete Handbook is not another surface-level maintenance guide. It's a comprehensive, professional-grade technical manual built to give you real mechanical knowledge — organized into a clear, progressive system you can follow at your own pace. Whether you're a rider who wants to stop depending on expensive dealerships, a hobbyist ready to go deeper, or someone considering a career as a motorcycle technician — this book was written for you.WHAT YOU'LL MASTER:Engine theory and hands-on repair — 2-stroke and 4-stroke, from combustion principles to full engine rebuilds including pistons, valves, and crankshaftsFuel systems: carburetor to EFI — tuning, synchronization, fuel injection diagnostics, sensor testing, and ECU logicElectrical systems demystified — charging circuits, ignition, wiring diagrams, multimeter techniques, and systematic fault-findingSuspension and chassis — fork service, shock adjustment, steering head bearings, frame geometry, and ride setupBraking systems — disc brake service, master cylinder rebuilds, hydraulic bleeding, ABS diagnostics, and wear-limit specsTransmission and drivetrain — clutch replacement, gearbox inspection, chain/sprocket maintenance, shaft drive, and belt systemsCooling and lubrication — oil selection, cooling system service, thermostat testing, and overheat diagnosticsProfessional diagnostics — compression testing, leak-down analysis, troubleshooting trees, noise interpretation, and the repair-rebuild- replace decision frameworkWorkshop setup and safety — tool selection, measuring instruments, and professional safety protocolsWHAT MAKES THIS BOOK DIFFERENT:This isn't quick tips. It's a structured technical education — the same knowledge taught in professional training programs — in a logical, building-block sequence. Every chapter connects theory to practice. Every procedure includes the why, not just the how. Every diagnostic section teaches you to think like a professional mechanic, not just follow a checklist. Covers all motorcycle types: sportbikes, cruisers, touring, adventure, naked bikes, and scooters.WHO THIS BOOK IS FOR:Riders who want to understand and maintain their own machinesHome mechanics ready to move beyond basic maintenance into real repairAnyone considering a career as a motorcycle technicianWorking technicians who need a comprehensive desktop referenceThe motorcycle industry needs skilled technicians. Whether you want to work on your own bike or build a career, real mechanical skill is one of the most valuable things you can develop. You don't need prior experience. You just need the decision to stop guessing and start understanding. Scroll up and click "Buy Now" — your journey from rider to mechanic starts today. Read more

  • Very good resource with an important flaw Very good resource with an important flaw
Format: Paperback
This is probably the most well written and logically laid out book on motorcycle mechanics I've read. I think I have most of the ones available on the market and this has so far been my favorite. Complex concepts are explained clearly in a way I believe beginners could comprehend. The best aspect of it, however, is how it is structured progressively, how the chapters and sections are interwoven to build on each other. That is where most of the other manuals I've read fall over, as the sections are generally written to stand alone and be consulted on a case by case basis. That said, I do have a couple of gripes, one small and one large, hence the four stars. To be clear, I bought the print version and not the Kindle one. In some spots, the translation can be a little wonky, using misspelled or non-existent words. Not so bad as to render the text incomprehensible, though. Not a big problem. However, this print version is missing ALL of the images from the original, from what I can see. They are instead replaced with text in brackets, for example: [IMAGE: Cross-section of the cylinder head showing intake and exhaust porting.] Those images are, of course, critical for understanding the text and concepts it presents. At this price point, you would expect those to be included in living color. All in, though, a very good resource. Hopefully there will be another edition with images included. I'll buy that one too. ... show more

  • Quality of the book.
Format: Kindle
The book is fine for the most part, however, there is text where images should be. The images would be very helpful with understanding some explanations in the book. I purchased the kindle version and tried to return it but it is not valid for return.

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally a motorcycle manual that actually teaches you how to THINK like a me
Format: Kindle
I’ve bought quite a few motorcycle repair books over the years, including some well-known manuals, and most of them follow the same pattern: basic maintenance, simple procedures, and very little real explanation. This is the first time I’ve come across a book that genuinely goes deeper and feels closer to a professional training course rathe What really stood out to me is how this book doesn’t just tell you what to do — it explains why you’re doing it. That alone makes a huge difference. Instead of blindly following steps, you actually start understanding how the engine, electrical system, and all the other components work together. For example, the sections on diagnostics and troubleshooting are incredibly valuable. It’s not just “replace this part,” but more like a logical process to identify the real issue. The structure is also very well done. It builds progressively, so even if you’re not an expert, you can follow along and improve step by step. At the same time, it doesn’t feel “dumbed down” — there’s clearly a lot of depth here, especially in areas like engine theory, fuel systems, and electrical diagnostics. Another big plus is the range of topics covered. It’s not limited to one aspect of motorcycle maintenance — it really goes into everything: engine rebuilds, suspension setup, braking systems, transmission, and even workshop practices. I also appreciated the inclusion of professional diagnostic techniques like compression testing and fault-finding logic, which you rarely see explained this clearly in books at this price point. That said, to keep things honest, there are a couple of minor things worth mentioning: It’s quite dense in some sections, especially if you’re a complete beginner. You may need to re-read certain parts to fully absorb the concepts. I would have liked a few more visual diagrams in certain chapters, particularly in the electrical section, where beginners might benefit from extra clarity. The Kindle format is convenient, but for a technical manual like this, some people might prefer a physical copy to easily flip between sections while working. None of these are deal-breakers, though. In fact, they’re more a reflection of how comprehensive the book is rather than actual flaws. Overall, this is easily one of the most complete and useful motorcycle mechanics books I’ve come across. Whether you’re a rider who wants to stop relying on expensive workshops or someone considering getting into the trade, this book gives you real, practical knowledge you can actually use. Highly recommended — I’d definitely buy it again. ... show more
