    • Exactly what I needed, but instillation takes a while
This product works exactly as advertised and I am happy with the result, but the instructions are really generic, so you'll have to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out how to install it. After watching several videos, I decided to try it out, but beware! The wire colors you see in the videos may NOT be what is actually on your bike. I had to remove and reinstall both the gray wire going to the crankshaft indicator and the brown wire going to the brake light because the wiring on my bike didn't exactly match what I saw in multiple videos. I have a 2009 Yamaha FZ6R and my bike had two gray wires (one light and one dark) going to the crankshaft, so it was a 50/50 guess, and the wiring to my brake light was reversed, so the brown wire on one side of the connector switched to yellow on the other side, so just remember to attach the wire tap to the wire on the opposite side regardless of color. The good news is that no permanent damage will be done if you get it wrong, so don't worry about it. You do have to have some degree of mechanical aptitude though. I added this to my 2008 Yamaha Royal Star Venture. I’ve had it on for over 4000 miles and one week long trip to the mountains and had no issues. The red is plenty to bright to see in direct sunlight. It is not HARD to install, but if you’re not good with taking off some panels and finding certain wires, just have call a friend who’s good with such things. For the price, this is an impossible unit to beat. Fits great just adhered right on my front brake reservoir - in my peripheral vision at all times. ... show more

It does what it says. It isn't exactly as instant as I expected but its because of the way it compares your rpm signal to the speed sensor signal. It takes a split second to analyze but pretty quick and darn accurate for something that isn't reading the trans position directly. Blue is a little tough to see in bright daylight so pick your color wisely. ... show more

…it began sporadically rapid-flashing more often than it showed the gear. Wish there were a way to contact the seller. Still under the one year warranty mentioned in the instruction sheet but Amazon seems to have no path for contacting the seller to do anything about it.

I like how the product works in the color red. The connectors and wire splicers work on my 2012 FZ1. I followed the directions and used you tube to answer the specific questions I had about which wires to splice. I used pliers to crimp down the wire splicers.
