  • For the home mechanic
I've searched for the best chain breaker/ riveter combo. Usually they are $100 or more. Those expensive ones are shop rated and will probably last a lifetime. However, I'm just servicing my personal bikes once every several years so, I wanted a budget tool. The cheaper combos are missing 1 or 2 things to efficiently do both breaking and riveting. This was the closest kit I could find that looked to be capable of both. I used it on a d.i.d vx3 with zero complications, smooth as butter. If I had one complaint it would be that the back plate doesn't stay in the bottom hole. So, you have to hold it there till you get it clamped. Watch a video or two on how to use these tools... you must grind the factory rivet off before pressing... you must align the tool properly... if you want to prolong the life of this tool, lube it. Take your time, you can do it! ... show more

  • A must buy chain breaker.
My box came blue not orange. Not a big deal. The tool itself is nice and heavy. Works great. Just make sure you really grind down the rivet. As with any chain breaker. As easy as line in it up twist and out comes the rivet. I was surprised about the price u really do get a nice tool. And it fit perfectly. Again the sturdiness of the metal was solid. Definitely a must have if u work on anything with chains. Make your life easy buy one. ... show more

  • You have to grind off the flare on the rivit on the old master link
It worked great on my 520 chain. The key is to grind the original rivets off. Then press the pins out of the link. If you dont grind the flared side of the rivets off. You're going to have a hell of a time. With any chain breaking tool. To flare the new master link on. I backed it up with the square blank. And put the ball bearing screw on cap on the screw sie of the tool. And flared each side just a little bit. Working back and forth. To get a somewhat even flare. I also used about a 10 inch long piece of tubing. To make it easier to get the torque to make the final flare. Good luck. I hope this helps the next guy. And obviously. Your going to need a new master link. You cannot reuse the old one. Just wanted to throw that out there so you have everything you need. Before you go and break the chain off. And have to wait on parts. Also to clean your o-ring chain. D.I.D. recommends using Kerosene. Not white gas or anything else. Kerosene or Motul chain cleaner. Anyway good luck. ... show more

  • buy a Motion Pro tool
this producy claims to be able to have the capability of chains upwards to 930. its very false, i worked on a chain that was a 530 and to rivit the chain with the proper crimper or riviting tool in the kit broke. the metal used in this kit is very soft. yes you do get what you pay for and your better off getting a motion pro tool, spend a little and get something better. the functionality works but the durabilty is what causes the whole thing to be a complete waste of time and money. i did a return thankufuly to a good return policy. ... show more

  • Cheap to get the work done
Product is absolutely cheap and it did get the job done with barely much of the product to keep. It nearly broke at end when trying to get the chain fitted but once snugged and without a steady hand you can hurt yourself if it snapped. It was simple to use and understand. I recommend buying a couple of these if you are doing multiple. Other than that, I'd spend the money for a professional brand kit for one than more bike fixing. ... show more

  • Amazing
This is so much better and cheaper than the ones found in Cycle gear stores. This made it super easy to install a new chain for my 600cc bike.

  • Quality for what you pay
This chain breaker worked out really well. For the price I think it was so worth it. Obviously since it’s lower in price, I think it would only last a couple breaking jobs. I used mine for one job and it worked just fine. Some of the rods bent just a little bit were still usable. Just be careful and meticulous and this product works so well ... show more

  • Great tool excellent price
Works perfectly. Used on the ninja as I got sent wrong.(too long) I used a drimmel to knock the head off the riveted pin and then used tool to push it out. Then after you have the plates on use the two flat bars to click the plate into place then I used the ball bearing tool to spread the pin and lock it in place. Make sure you do the last part most important part of whole process. Hope this helps anyone using a chain breaker for first time ... show more
